T R O P H Y M O M E N T 🏆 • • • Sunday night I had the privilege and honor of standing with the likes of @JoelLsteen @TashaCobb @KirkFranklin @WilliamMurphy @SarahJakesRoberts @ToureRoberts @RonCarpenter @TravisGreene @IVHilliard @WilliamMcDowell @MikeFreeman @CarlLentz @CraigGrochelle all pictured here to celebrate @RealJohnGray & @GrayceMe during there pastoral installation of @MyRelentessChurch. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen such a grand, multicultural, innovative installation in all of my life. @EricGarnes led a phenomenal service. It was an honor to stand as a friend and co-laborer with John as well as in the place of my father. Thank you @dr.matthewstevenson for speaking this truth. Thank you @jenjanell for your echoing words below. Thank you @theraymondforte for sharing this with me. #BELLlegacy #Repost @jenjanell ・・・ “Dishonor killed Bishop Long”. I appreciate Dr. Matt for saying this. Many of us have BEEN saying this since our Bishop transitioned but people dismissed it as just a “NewBirth thing”. @bishopeddielong didn’t get a chance to retire. He died a year and a half shy of the average American retirement age, which is 65. If he were still living, he’d be that age 5 days from now. I’ll be honest, when I heard this, I cried. Finally, somebody else sees that truth. While this won’t bring Bishop back, I hope that what Dr. Matt said will wake some of us up to the fact that we’re responsible for preserving our leaders. We shouldn’t be losing generals in the faith in their 50’s and 60’s. Whether we agree with them or not, understand them or not, we should always honor them. Bishop Long deserved waaaaayyyy better treatment than he received. It’s beyond disheartening to see how our people (black folks!) rallied to crucify him without a second thought as to whether the story was true or not. We’ll make posts saying “Free Man-Man” knowing Man-Man killed somebody but won’t support the man of God during the most trying times of his life. Yet we expected him to pay for funerals, save us from evictions and pray for us through our trials and tribulations without fail. People left him, talked about him, even disowned him as their mentor and spiritual father, yet they were quick to post his death and claim a spot in his legacy. Why? Truth be told, he was more valuable alive, but some of y’all couldn’t see it until he was dead. 😔 If you watch the whole service, Dr. Matt touched on Bishop Pearson and I couldn’t agree more. Let’s not kill another leader. We don’t have to agree but we can still love. Let’s do better y’all.
