So I went camping at Bellows AFS this weekend. 2 nights. It wasn’t bad but family campgrounds really aren’t my thing, people are too loud, people are too close. but honestly my site wasn’t bad, I was right on the edge of the woods and as you can see it wasn’t much of a jungle. I was also warned about the centipedes but I was lucky enough to not see any.
Also on Saturday, just after brewing my coffee I had noticed all the people in the campground had cleared out, and I noticed my phone screen was lit up. I go and look at it and I see what most of you heard about in the news, “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL”. Those are some of the scariest words to read. My first thought was oh my God its actually happening, what the fuck do I do. I don’t know where to go and I figure okay, if this is going to happen I have to call home, I cant go out with no words. So I call my dad and explain to him whats happening, then I start to think out loud. I cant get into my car because if there is fallout, and if it does hit I need to wrap myself in clothing and go to the BX. I figured I was safest on that part of the island cause if a missile does hit its either gonna be Honolulu or JBPHH. But after 5-10 minutes of talking to my dad we figure out through the duty section group text that it was a mistake, and not for 20 minutes later was a formal alert put out that it was a mistake.
Aside from thinking I was going to start playing Fallout: Oahu, it wasn’t a bad weekend and Ill probably go again
