perhaps it showed her muggle roots, but lily liked taking the tube home from work much more than she liked apparating or flooing. it grounded her, and she enjoyed the travel time when she was able to just sit and think. however, she had worked late today, and it was dark outside, and lily just wanted to get home. she slung her bag over her shoulder, grabbed a handful of floo powder and stepped into the fire, clearly saying “ home! ”. or at least, that was what was supposed to happen. what lily had not accounted for, however, was the dustiness of the fireplace after months of disuse, and it was that dust that she choked on, and so her “ home! ” was not clear at all. as soon as she vanished from the potion shop’s fireplace, lily knew things were not going as planned. oh, bollocks. she did her best to keep her eyes tightly shut and her elbows tucked in as she whizzed through several different fireplaces, each gone too quickly to tell where they were. finally, she tumbled out of an entirely unfamiliar fireplace, covered with soot and coughing. lily scrambled to her feet, brushing herself off and doing her very best to look dignified. “ --- erm ... hello. ”
