Goodbye, Guenhwyvar

She was the most wonderful cat anybody could have ever hoped to have. Been a part of my heart and home since she was a tiny kitten, a little ball of black fuzz full of mischief. She was dumb as a brick, the definition of "No thoughts, head empty".

She was my baby. This morning, my beloved girl breathed her last. I knew it was coming for a while. A couple months ago, I took her to the vet because I thought it was time then. We decided to try treating her, see if we could make her quality of life better. But she continued to decline, and in the past couple weeks her quality of life went down so much.

It has only been a few hours, but it feels so empty without her. None of her soft, black form laying by the master bedroom door when I left, no more of her coming to lay by my feet while I am at my computer… no more of her nuzzling into my hand for pets… no more of her coming running when I call her name. Fifteen wonderful years, she was at my side.

I miss her.

i know it was the right decision. I know it was time. I've known, for a bit. She passed away knowing she was loved.

I get her ashes back soon… and a little inked paw print. I'm having that tattooed as a memorial.

Goodbye, my purring little bundle of fluff, with your scratchy meow, your obsession with food, and your warm cuddles. Your life was happy and good, and without you, I wouldn't even be alive right now. You saved my life, several times, when I was in my darkest times. A soft little shadow who wanted nothing but to have a warm, soft place to sleep, lots of treats, to be loved, and to love.

Rest in peace, Guenguen. I hope you make lots of friends at the Rainbow Bridge while awaiting my eventual arrival, after a life well lived and full of joy and warmth because of you being a part of it.
