Broadcasting: A life for a life.....
Something had to be done. Liberty just simply couldn’t stand anymore being the stupid public figure that she had become. Being a leader was always about being more than one who gave orders, it was about protecting those below them under that command. And Liberty had direly failed when it came to Eve, she knew that things would end messily and that the Society wanted to take the life of the young hero. Liberty knew that there was no other end to it. It would be the endgame, someone dying. Liberty probably wasn’t thinking straight. But things had gone far enough. The blonde slowly approached the door she had been heading for, taking a breath as she then shunted it open quickly, her sapphire eyes now fixing to a confused Cindy Chase and her manager, having been interrupted mid broadcast. Liberty hadn’t told a single Hero of what she had been up to, not even her husband. “Both of you sit down” she ordered when the two went to raise from their seat for the intrusion, neither having expected the leader of the heroes at all. “Get me headphones and a mic, are we live? Come on, I’ve wasted enough time here already” she asked, the two women in the room nodding shakily. Liberty sat down and got herself set up in her seat, slipping on her headphones, her now glassy eyes stared at the ‘on air’ light that was beaming a brilliant red. “Shadow Society” Liberty began, feeling a lump of nerves form in her throat aas she spoke, no matter how good she typically was at public speaking. Today was different, if all went well, it’d be her last speech. “You’re hearing the voice of American Liberty, or Tatiana Liberty Peters, which is what will read on my epitaph. I know you are out there listening to me, the seconds ticking on the clock only making us both uncomfortable” she murmured, glancing to Cindy and her manager who looked at each other in confusion “I’m here to bargain for the life of someone who I want returned, someone who is dear to those around her, a valued member of my team and family. I offer you something simple, because what you have asked for is ludicrous. To ask for the Heroes Union to dissolve is impossible, because you cannot dissolve an ideal that is in peoples hearts, that carries them through the day. To make sure the group no longer functions never takes it away. For as famously quotes, ideas are bulletproof. Goodness lives within the hearts of the people in this city, just because some don’t have powers does not mean that they aren’t a hero every single day of their lives. Some heroes where gold pins and some heroes just simply struggle and manage to get out of the bed in the morning-” she then licked her dry lips “SO I offer you something more concrete, more applicable to what you really want from this display of your egos. I offer you my life, I offer you an end to my life publicly...” she said with a grit of her teeth, her hands shaking, this making Cindy Chase gasp loudly. “You are all fans of the dramatics, there is nothing more dramatic then a public execution. People used to come out in droves for them in the olden days. Whilst your fears that I may die a martyr may be true, at least you have shown what can be done for a new generation. So, if we have a deal I’ll see Eve Livingston back home and well, a life for a life is how I want to see it..And I promise to show Thursday at sundown, but I want Eve Livingston back, do I make myself clear? I am a woman of my word, so why don’t you show you can be for once in your miserable lives, call my bluff? Lets only have this end in the bloodshed of one..No more.” she then took a breath and closed her eyes and stood from her spot. “Because if not, then you know that my team and I will come right for you, and who knows how that will end? You can give me your response however you like in one hour”
