I hope your blog is active is active for asking questions. Cause this is one what if scenarios that came up to me.

Imagine , the last two episodes of Ben 10 ultimate alien , what if Ben used Alien X just right after Sir George's demise to defeat Diagon instead of using Ascalon?

The battle would have been most discussed in the decade and among the go-to battles in Ben's history. What do you think the outcome would be?

I think if they did that they would be involving a whole other moral debate they wouldn't have the time to really articulate without rushing through the scene even more.

They introduced Ascalon to symbolize "the struggle between good and evil," or "overcoming evil," which is exactly what was happening between Ben/Sir George and Vilgax/Diagon. That would only be like, half of the moral conflict if Alien X was involved. The writers would need to explain the difference between being tempted to use the power of Ascalon vs having the power of a godlike being strapped to his wrist. Which, he has like all the time. Do you see how that opens a can of worms? I think keeping Ascalon as the focus of the power struggle made the point well enough.

I like the use of the reference to the sword of Ascalon and its meaning in mythology. It clearly mirrors Ben's hero journey throughout the series and makes an effort to place him among other heroes in history. I think involving Alien X would have convoluted the point.

"You can't protect them forever, Tennyson...." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I promised I'd draw Ben in the new Ascalon Armor, so here ya go! This is basically when he finally catches Dagon in the sword, but due to quite literally holding the demon's cage, it gave Dagon a chance to try and pressure Ben into either letting out him, or using his powers. He preys on Ben's fear of failing everyone, unable to protect them, even using Pierce's death's to taunt him. And Ben's friends and allies can't help him by getting close, as they know it's up to Ben and his willpower to beat Dagon's mind games.... Since I mentioned in my Azmuth Rewrite/Family picture that I made it that he didn’t make Ascalon, and some people seemed interested in that, I think I’ll write down my Dagan Arc Rewrite and sharing it here, and eventually other arcs I’ve adjusted if ya’ll are interested. 💚

Here's a personal character for the Ben 101 Rewrite, being someone I mentioned in the Dagon Arc Rewrite, so check out those notes if you're keen to learn a bit more about what happened there!

Iris Spellblade was the original user of Ascalon, and was known as one of the best weapons user in Ledgerdomain, at the time. She was also part of the royal bloodline, being the niece to Dagon, the old King of Ledgerdomain. However, when he was corrupted by dark magic and went rogue, Spellblade was one of the many people tasked to defeat him, eventually given Ascalon after it was crafted. She fought alongside Sir George, and the two ended up becoming close friends, and someone Sir George even looked up too. Spellblade was stern, quiet, and seemed a little off putting, but she was brave, loyal and would always protect the innocent. Admittedly, she had her struggles fighting against her uncle, due to having fond memories of him before he turned evil.

However, in the final moments of the war, she was killed by Dagon. In her dying moments, she handed Ascalon to Sir George, entrusting him to finishing the job. Her death was one of Sir George's greatest guilts, and tries his best to live by her code of protecting the helpless...

Notes:

As mentioned in the Kai redesign, her blade, Excalibur, was later found to have been a early prototype of Ascalon.

Through some research and clues, there are hints that suggest that Charmcaster may be a descendant of the royal bloodline, but nothing clear has ever been found on that.

Spellblade's mother, D’endrrah Divination, was also the sister to Dagon, and took his place as ruler after he went rogue. She didn't last long without the Alpha Rune, however...

Spellblade also had a younger brother, but his name and history have been lost to time.

Some of George's well known moves and techniques were taught to him by Spellblade.

Ascalon's abilities include, sturdy armor that can tank most hits, the ability of flight/hovering, enhance a user mental and physicals state (especially magic users), use of magical energy attacks (Slashes, blasts, or explosion are some of the few ways to use it, able to cast a dome of protection, protection from dark magic corruption, enhanced regeneration, and able to seal powerful souls inside (specifically for Dagon).

Bezel was an old family friend of the royal family, part of their council, thus he knew Spellblade and even Dagon once. After the events of the war, he vanished to earth and gave up magic due to the chaos he saw.

After Ben retrapped Dagon in the sword, it was given to Azmuth and the Galvans to keep watch over it, but may or may not be the end of Dagon's story....

-Ben 101 Rewrite Note-

Excalibur was actually a prototype of Ascalon, back when Ledgerdomain was trying to craft a weapon to contain Dagon. It holds basic powers, such as shooting beams, mild user enhancements, and being sturdy, yet light. However, despite being a good sword in its own right, it had a major flaw to it. It was described as being fickle, and would rarely only let random people be able to wield it. Ledgerdomain people could not find any correlation, and guessed it was most likely a ‘magical glitch’. However, when the sword was lost on earth, humans mistook its fickleness as a sign of destiny and fate, and those who could hold it were holy people. Kai also thought this, until told by Bezel himself the truth behind the blade. This did upset her, as she had been wanting to do something that made her stand out and feel special, only learning that she just happened to be a random choice. Thankfully, Ben comforted her, using the Omnitrix as an example about how anyone could have gotten it, but it’s the user who makes it special. It was enough to convince Kai to keep the sword, becoming her prime weapon in battle.
