yeah no the long hair was not it for me ashfusa but yeah poor guy hasn't been able to catch a break since the age of 4 come onnn
I HAVE ONE PERSON TO AGREE ABOUT THE HAIR! Everyone loves that long thing and I'm just... Hehe give me the spike back.
YES! The only times he had a break was:
1. Lisa (and Ben)
He was so sad because of Sammy, but he was somehow trying to move on with the apple pie life he wanted.
Either we like Lis or not, she truly saved Dean from himself and gave him support.
2. Being a demon
Dean didn't have the weight on his shoulder. Besides what some may say, to me he still had feelings (or he'd just up and killed Sam when he started chasing him). He was just all the extroverted parts of himself: booze, karaoke, sex. And violence with no reason, what always have been one of Dean's ways to blow off some stream. He was just light for the first time, why would he go and look for actual problems or become a whole ass killer? Dean could do things for himself for the first time in decades and for more than 2 hours.
3. The Djinn illusion
The whole world that the Djinn created for Dean was based on a simple fact: his mom didn't die. That was his greatest wish (what is also showed on the newer seasons). Everything else that happened would be better— or so he though. We all know that dream ended, but Dean was truly happy for most of it.

One day when Dean was in the house with his mom, Ben snuck out to the impala and took a look in the trunk. He had a small understanding of what could be there but had no idea of just how many guns there would be. He didn't think that Dean would miss one so, he took one of the sawed off shotguns and hid it under one of the floorboards of his room.
Sometimes, instead of going to school, he'll go to the range and fire off some rounds. He does this because he wants to be a soldier.
Just like Dean.
SPN: I've decided that I would not have any complaints if Lisa just happened to take a nose dive off a cliff, but that Ben is a pretty damn cool kid! (So far at least...)
