I know that it's not particularly original to rant and rave about The Bachelor being sexist (duh, of course it is), so I'm not exactly going to do that. But one thing has really gotten to me the past few seasons: the subject of moving. I'm pretty sure this really came out for the first time during Brad's season. I watched the end of Jason's season, and that was a unique circumstance because he had a kid, and I watched Jillian's, but I don't really remember much about where she/Ed lived. But on Brad's season, from day one, the party line was "Brad lives in Austin. Brad will not consider moving from Austin. You must move to Austin if you want to be with Brad, which of course you do, because you uprooted your life to be on this TV show." I love Austin, and who doesn't love Brad's bars there, including everyone's favorite, Chugging Monkey. And I realize that Emily had a made-up career and Chantal had a billion dollars from her dad with the awesome statue and Ashley the "dentist" was actually only in dental school and people in Texas need dentists, too (and apparently NYC, as well).
One thing I've liked about Ben so far is that he seems to actually remember these women's careers, which might mean he thinks about things other than how their butt looks in a bikini on a fake ski slope (aside: weirdest date in Bachelor history, possibly? Let's ask Chris Harrison.) But yet, just like Brad, it is not open to debate that he will move. I know, he has a super awesome winery and wineries can't move. But all the girls seem totally fine with this: "San Francisco could be my new home!" Yes, but what about your old home? What was wrong with it? Maybe Ben would like it, too? Does it seem a little odd to you that this man will let 25 women compete with each other for the chance to be with him but won't even consider moving if he finds his dream girl at the end of the show?
