Check out Curt Magazine's interview with Ben!
The Californian band A Night in Hollywood will soon make their breakthrough, as I'm sure. In the U.S., the five boys had a secret among the metalcore fans. Their debut album, "Darling, This Is Just The Beginning" for release in August. First of all I have met the 23-year-old guitarist and keyboardist Ben Laing for an interview. Daria: In August will be released your debut album. A big step for any band. How does that feel? Ben: We're all terribly excited! The release of "Darling, this is just the beginning" lays the foundation for everything that will come. We hope that our sound like a catchy tune is annoying to go around the world. Daria: You betray us your favorite song from the album? Ben: Sure! My favorite title is "Darling, This Is Just The Beginning." I wrote this song at age 19, about a year before it ANIH (A Night In Hollywood,) even existed. I then put in a difficult phase and the song just came out of me. When I auditioned the song later once my current band mates, we decided to work on it together. This version has now managed on the album. Daria: What inspired you to play guitar? Ben: My grandfather was very musical and mastered many instruments, he gave me piano lessons. But at some point I hated the stuff on the strumming on the keys and I decided to pick one of the guitars lying around and make some noise on it. Well, what can I say: I could not just leave her. Since I was 12 years old. Daria: So music was always very important in your life ... Ben: Yes! Music is my calling. I can count on them no matter what. You will always be there for me and grow with me. And she's so wonderfully diverse, changing and is constantly in motion. Without music I would have been someone else entirely. Maybe a boring lawyer or something. Daria: What music do you listen in private? Ben: I hear everything! Quite honestly, my CD collection ranges from New Found Glory and The Audition to Slayer and Killswitch Engage. Of course I listen to most metal - there's simply nothing like them. Daria: If you had the opportunity to give a concert anywhere in the world - where would you play? Ben: In the Antarctic. I bet it still has not played anyone Metalcore for penguins. Daria: And now a quick round of questions: What would you decide you do? Small or large audience? Ben: Great! The more people I reach with my music the better. Daria: apple or banana? Ben: Definitely apple. Each bite is a piece of the sky. Daria: Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake - who would you want to be for a day? Ben: Justin Bieber. He finally gets all the girls. Daria: You'd rather be zombie or vampire? Ben: I'd rather be vampire, even if it sounds cool. Thanks to this stupid Twilight movie. Daria: Japan or France? Ben: Japan is cool. I love the Japanese culture, totally! Daria: vanilla or cinnamon? Ben: cinnamon. My manager has red hair, then cinnamon.
