If you are in any way interested in, passionate or simply curious about the medium of puppetry as an artform, then I highly recommend you watch this video essay by Ben Page of the criminally underrated YouTube channel Cinemarionette. Not only does Ben masterfully debunk many of the common and misguided stereotypes one might have regurding the craft (I.e. it’s childish, it’s a dumb gimmick, it’s outdated and irrelevant in todays digitally-oriented world of ciniema etc), he also makes a compelling and inspiring case for puppetry as a filmmaking medium. One just as artistic, powerful, beautiful and deserving of respect as animation or CGI.
