Malware redemption arc AU

1. Malware sees him, and remembers.This human, this…Kevin…hurt him once, shot both of his hands off with his Plumber ship before Malware could destroy Tennyson’s Vaxasaurian form as he had the Conductoid’s.When Kevin realizes this, he laughs nervously for a few moments before speaking.“Well…I guess now we know your memory wasn’t affected while you were a cube.”2. Kevin isn’t allowed to mention that anymore.Malware doesn’t know how Kevin knew about it, as he wasn’t on Galvan Prime while it was taking place, but he suspects Ben told him.

3. Although Malware supposes he could use “Azmuthson” as his last name, he decides it’s too clunky and weird and just goes with “Levin”4. Sometimes, Malware feels like he’s being set up for a prank.Like, Kevin’ll finish programming, get to where he’ll actually have answers about Malware’s condition and what to do next…and then reveal he had no idea what he was doing the whole time, that he was just supposed to make Malware feel better by causing him to think that someone actually cared about his well-being, even though in reality Kevin would care about as much as his father.This thought unsettles him, but despite everything, he still can’t quite remove it from his mind.5. Kevin decides the project was worth it on the day that Malware first hugs him.He’s glad that that’s something he didn’t have to teach him.

Blue Nerds ATLA AU

I have been thinking about this recently and I am very attached to it

1. The new Avatar was not what he had expected, to say the least.It had been thirteen years since his father had passed away, thirteen years since he’d met his reincarnation, and yet he still didn’t know what to make of this child, the one who carried his father’s legacy on his shoulders as much as he did.But two things were clear: He would train this child in Airbending, just as his father had trained him, and he would protect him at all costs.2. “What was your dad like?” he asks. He looks at the child, smiling sadly.“He was…difficult to describe. He could be distant sometimes, but he truly did care about people, and raised myself and my siblings on his own to the best of his abilities for many years. He was wise, and kind, and brave…and he saved the world.”“Do you think I’ll save the world?” He looks at the child again, seeing his father’s determination spark in his eyes.“Someday.” he says. “But you have a lot to learn.”3. “All I ever wanted to do was be just like him.” the Airbender whispers. “All that I did…was for him, in his service. We were airbenders, and that’s what airbenders do, right? We serve, and we sacrifice. I sacrificed everything else to follow him, be his student. But now he’s gone, and he left me here. Sometimes, I wonder what he thinks of me now, seeing me through your eyes.”The child comes up behind him, hugging him.“Well…I think you’re pretty great.”4. The child meets the previous Avatar once, a silver-haired gentleman in yellow and orange robes. He somehow makes the bright colors look dignified.“Your son’s a good man.” the child tells him. “And a great teacher.”The other Avatar nods, once, the hint of a smile on his face. “I always had faith in him.” he said, wistfully. “And I have faith in you as well.”“So does he.”5. The child learns the four elements over the years, uses them to battle monsters and villains of all kinds. He and his teacher become family to one another, and even through struggles, always come back to one another, rely on each other as their source of inspiration and strength.It’s no wonder, then, that although the child is a native of the Water Tribes, he always felt a special connection to airbending.

also, in canon right now it doesn’t really work, given that lapis just does not like peridot at all (at best, she tolerates her, but that’s it)

Malware 23 is suddenly turned human AU

this is a delightful concept and I’m into it

1. Malware’s never wished to be human.

2. “Malware, keep it down, will you?” Ben says, still half-asleep. “I’m not supposed to be up for another fi-” He turns his head towards Malware, sees two blue eyes instead of one, makes a sort of startled yelp, and sits up. “Oh.”

“What has happened to me?” Malware asked. “Who made me like this?”

“Dunno, dude.” Ben says, off the bed now. He stands in front of Malware, assessing his new form like a judge selecting the winner of a beauty pageant. After a few minutes of unintelligible muttering, he comes to a conclusion.“You look like an accountant.”

3. Ben sets a plate of food in front of Malware, all Ben’s favorite things. Then: a cup of tea, still hot, teabag resting at the bottom of the cup.“Um…I didn’t know what you wanted to eat, but since you’re human now… I guess… I figured you’d want to try everything. And I also made tea…because I know you like making it so much. Let me know if you can’t finish anything.” he says, then steps away as Malware inspects the food.Malware picks up the gyro first, the one Ben’s associated with most. He takes a cautious first bite, then a few more. Soon, he’s devoured almost all of it, and turns to the tea.It burns in his new throat, and then he rushes to the sink to spit it out.“You okay?” Ben asks.“That was terrible.” Malware says. “May I have more?”

4. Ben’s not quite sure if he can call his friend Malware anymore.

“I suppose it’ll just be Mal for now. It sounds kind of normal, and it’s not that far from your real name…what do you think?”

“It will do. For now.”

“Good.”

5. However long it took to set up a communication channel directly patched to Galvan Prime (Ben was grateful that Mal still had his technological skills, glad to see those hadn’t been left behind when someone or something decided to trade his technorganic body for a flesh-suit) it was well worth it for both Ben and Malware to see Azmuth’s face once he, too, caught sight of his creation.“Hello, Father.” Malware said, attempting a smile.“Malware? Wha-” Azmuth started, confused like the last time Ben and Malware had been to see him. Then he remembered what Malware had unintentionally taught him about politeness, and started over.“Malware. It’s so good to see you. Even in your…current state.” he said, folding his hands in front of him.Ben rolled his eyes at him from the screen, and Azmuth suddenly remembered why he preferred being around Galvanic Mechamorphs.

Gem 10 AU

(Note: I’ll be using she/her pronouns for both characters in this AU post, because of the nature of the Gems, despite the fact that in Primeverse canon both of them are male/male-coded)

1.They unfuse, the first time, and neither of them can stop smiling.“I’ve never had a third eye before.” says Aventurine. “It was…an experience.”Eudialyte laughs, slightly, and says “I’ve never had more than one.”, then, after a pause: “It was…nice.”“Wanna do it again?” asks Aventurine, but Eudialyte has already taken hold of her hand.2. Aventurine likes exploring, and Eudialyte likes Aventurine’s enthusiasm, so she allows Aventurine to lead her wherever she wants. The green Gem finds everything fascinating on the new colony- plant life, animals, this thing called food…and she wants to experience it all. But more than that, she wants Eudialyte to experience it with her.So Eudialyte does.3. Eudialyte doesn’t discover her…gift until after the Rebellion begins, when she brushes against Aventurine while in hiding from a platoon of Quartz warriors and suddenly Axinite emerges. They leave as quickly as they came, though, and Aventurine stares at her.“You didn’t ask permission.” she says. “All Gems ask permission.”“I didn’t mean to!” Eudialyte says. “I’m sorry.”“Oh, it’s okay.” Aventurine reassures her. “But…you should talk to someone about this. Not just me, I mean.”4. They experiment on her, on her gem itself, trying to find out why she can fuse without needing consent.All Eudialyte can think about during this time is Aventurine, how she’s glad the other gem isn’t there to see her like this.She’s especially glad for that when she no longer resembles a gem anymore.5. After the experiments, after she’s…changed… she makes her way to Earth.She knows Aventurine and her other friends- the pink gem, the black gem, the blue gem (she can no longer remember their names, sometimes she can’t even remember her own) are there already, and no Gem will stop her from finding her friend again.She’s the only one Eudialyte has left, the only one who can hold back whatever’s taken control of Eudialyte. She sees other Gems, but Aventurine is not among them. She feels the pressure of a gauntlet plunging into her gut-and when she awakes again, Aventurine is there, worried.Stay back, she wants to tell her. I’m a monster now.But only sounds come out of her, and she pushes Aventurine away with both hands.Aventurine reaches out, stubborn as ever, though, and despite herself, Eudialyte’s hand connects with hers.

Villain High AU

1. It was bad enough that he’d been coerced- forced, really- to attend this…school.“Think of it as an experiment. It’s an exciting opportunity!” chirped the Plumber representative who’d approached him with the idea.“So, in other words, I’d be one of your first lab rats?” he asked, disdain creeping into his voice.She said nothing in response.2. He discovered too late that one of the classes he’d been eligible for was taught by none other than his father.

He didn’t know who’d put him in that class, but all the same he decided he hated them.

3. Then again, there were some people at the school he didn’t completely despise. 

There was Aggregor, from his grade, a fellow artificially-created mutant who he trusted enough to invite to his family’s apartment.

There was Zs’Skayr, the somewhat off-putting Ectonurite 2 years ahead of him, who nevertheless seemed concerned about his wellbeing and adopted him and Aggregor as younger brother figures.

There was Kevin, Aggregor’s uncle and another mutant, who, like his nephew, understood Malware’s condition and respected him as much as he hated Eunice, which Malware counted as an accomplishment since usually it was the other way around with people.

These were the people whom he’d remember most when the school inevitably got destroyed.4. He discovered the meaning behind the first part of his name in Magister Tennyson’s English class.Mal, he’d read in the red dictionary with gold lettering. Bad, evil, ill… all words used to describe him in the past, confirmed by this damning book.Why even try to behave well? he asked himself. Even your name says you’re wrong.Why, indeed.5. Out of all the pointless Earth rituals that had been brought to this station, to be used in this school, he hated attendance the most. Especially in Azmuth’s class.“Malware.” he’d call, and it would remind him of his first days in Azmuth’s lab, after Azmuth found him and gave him this name. It, too, was a reminder- a reminder of his condition, his nature as a failed experiment. Inherently flawed.But then again, so was nearly everyone else at the school, save for the Plumbers who’d stuck around as damage control.However unpleasant this school experience was, at least he’d learned one thing: as fucked up as you may think you are, there’s always someone worse.That, at least, he could take solace in.

Unlikely Top Tennyson AU

(for the record: refers to this fanfic, which y’all should definitely read by the way)

1. Malware thought sleep was a waste of time. When his brothers went into stasis, to build up energy while inactive, he fought against it. He consumed machines to build his strength, rather than being dead to the world. That, to him, was the logical solution.

Then he met Ben.

Outside Azmuth’s lab, while Malware was considering accepting Ben’s help, Ben had abruptly fallen asleep. Malware didn’t know the signs for tiredness in humans, but wished he did, so he might’ve caught Ben mid-fall and Ben’s head wouldn’t have laid on the ground for so long while Malware panicked. Ben didn’t deserve to fall like that. It just wasn’t right.

Azmuth’s face flickered onto the screen again. “Malware, did you kill the human?” he asked, looking at Ben’s unmoving form.“No, Father. He is merely asleep.”“Ah.” said Azmuth.“What is this about?” Malware asked. “Why have you contacted me?”“You wanted to talk…son. Let’s talk.” Azmuth said. “And bring the human with you. He looks rather uncomfortable, and I have a bed for him inside.”Malware picked Ben up, being careful not to scar the boy with his claw-hands. Then the door opened, and he walked into Azmuth’s lab.

2. Ben looked peaceful when he slept.

Malware almost envied him.

3. “What is…a hug?” Malware asks, and Ben shows him.

4. Malware is glad that he and Ben are friends now. Sometimes he remembers when he had Ben as his prisoner, and he could feel Ben fighting him, struggling against the bonds he had held him in. And even when Ben had accepted his death, he was fighting Malware, asking him questions Malware had difficulty answering, which was something he had not experienced in a long time. He’s glad that he’s on Ben’s side, because while Ben is not as proficient in physical battles, he can argue like nobody’s business, and in Malware’s case, what he said cut to the core of who he was, made him question what he was doing, which ended up changing his entire perspective.All because of a human child. Incredible,  Malware thought.When it comes to fighting, sometimes a loud protesting voice is more devastating than a weapon, and Ben Tennyson can use both very, very well.

5. Malware does call Azmuth, sometimes.

The calls always tend to go to voicemail, leave a message after the tone, says Azmuth matter-of-factly.

Some things never change, Malware says.

They can, Ben says. You did, remember?

Then Malware dials again, and waits.

Corrupting Watch AU where Ben is ten years old when he meets Malware

1. Ben’s seen Gwen’s older brother a few times, seen the way he jumps to her defense when Ben teases her, the way he shares things with her that he won’t tell anyone else or gives her his extra food when he’s full at Thanksgiving or Christmas.Secretly, he’s always wanted a brother just like that.He got one, an older brother-figure who quite literally would defend him to the death, one who shares his body, his mind with Ben whenever the two become one. He shares energy instead of food, and Ben feels stronger, more alive.He’s not jealous of Gwen anymore.2. They tell him he’s important in other dimensions, that different versions of him are the saviors of universes he can’t even begin to comprehend.All Ben really understands, knows as reality in his world, is that he’s a regular kid with a very special friend, a cool suit of armor, and that those two happen to be one and the same. He’s not quite ready to protect universes, but with Mal’s help, they’ll save their own little corner of the galaxy, and as they both keep practicing, that corner will grow.3. They tell him there’s a dimension where he’s not the success, where he’s despised by his fa- his creator, deemed a failure and a shame by his own admittance. Where he’s just like…no. He can’t bring himself to think the words, but even without them, the concept sickens him. All Malware keeps remembering is that he is superior to…that device, above all, and that he, as he knows himself, is a hero. That despite possible misconceptions, the Tennyson child is a hero as well, and he can help him become an even better one, as he learns from the child himself.4. Ben’s consumed by the Omnitrix in this world, too- he ends up in a maze of green and black, facing the memory of Azmuth visiting him in the aftermath of Corra’s attack, Malware’s sacrifice. He remembers all over again the guilt he felt, how he knew it was supposed to be him who took the hit instead of Malware.Malware’s special, he remembers thinking while lying on that couch 5 years ago. You’re disposable. It should have been you.5. “No.” the lost part of Malware tells him, once the memory fades. I am half a life. You are worth everything to me, and losing myself for a time was less important than losing you, he says. My dearest friend-My closest confidant-My truest brother-forgive yourself-this was not your fault-please-Ben locks hands with Malware, and feels the familiar pull as Malware begins to form over him.The device removes itself, and Ben emerges into daylight again.Before he knows it, he’s given Malware a hug, and Malware hugs him in return.
