i like way more tumblr posts when i’m wine drunk
my aesthetic
aggressive sincerity
i will use Let Me Google That For You without an ounce of passive aggression; i just wanna help out
if i text you "lol ok" it's because i found your comment both amusing and believable
wake up sheeple
i'm full to the brim with [[song of the dryads]] questions! if my opponent has a problem creature that's equipped with some gear, does it stay on if i enchant the creature with song?
Once the creature is enchanted with Song of the Dryads, it’s no longer a creature and thus all equipment will unattach from it.
is it possible to activate phantasmagorian's ability from zones other than the graveyard? i'm assuming not, since hammer of bogardan has been errata'd to no longer read 'activate only if this is in your graveyard' which would mean that phrase is just already a rule, but i wanted to check
No.
Abilities that move a card from one specific zone to another zone can only ever be activated in that first zone.
Meet Your Magic Community!
Yesterday we met the @wizardsmagic Community Team at Wizards of the Coast. They’re cool folks. But do you know who else is cool folks? You folks, the Magic community!
In the spirit of consistency, here are questions almost identical to the ones that were asked of the Community Team. Reblog and answer or not answer as many of them as you like! Pictures optional! Let’s all be friends!
Name/Online handle: Ben/benchariot/something related to my name somehow
Favorite Magic color: white maybe? i don’t necessarily have a favorite so much as favorite pairings
Favorite Magic card: maybe Thopter Foundry (see anecdote below)
Favorite Planeswalker: Ashiok (not only a cool/mysterious/creepy character, but nonbinary representation!)
Cutest Magic card: brushwagg easily
Creepiest Magic card: either ad nauseam or the fallen
If you had a superpower, it would be: i’m not sure what this has to do with mtg but teleportation
Favorite non-Magic thing (to do, watch, play, etc.): hang with friends/get sloshed/party
Job/College/Aspirations? in college for english/education, hope to be a teacher and/or writer eventually
What’s a favorite Magic related story? it’s hard to pick just one, but there was a time i was playing some casual magic with friends (when i say casual, i mean casual. we played on the floor of a bedroom). there were 3 or 4 players at the start of the game, and we were now down to just me and my friend. this was during alara and i was running some esper artifacts deck and my friend was piloting a mean and aggressive b/r build with lots of discard/burn/destruction effects. it was widely regarded amongst us to be the strongest deck among the bunch.
we had a running joke at the time that thopter foundry was the best card in the game, and that you might as well concede to an opponent casting it. anyway, it seemed like the end of the game. i was at like 3 life, nothing but a couple useless artifacts on the field, and my friend had a decently stacked field.
i drew thopter foundry, cast it. friend makes obligatory “might as well concede” joke. proceeds to attack me and burn away at me, but suddenly i’m saccing everything i have to make thopters and gain life. a couple artifacts become buffers against burn while also becoming enough chump blockers to trade with his creatures. after a couple turns and some lucky card draw to throw out yet more artifacts, i throw out enough shit to make him fizzle out of resources, and i run him over with thopters. the audience is astounded. the power of thopter foundry is never refuted again
What’s your favorite thing about Wizards of the Coast? their willingness to try new things to keep the game fresh. some of my favorite game aspects came out of that (un-sets, conspiracy, archenemy, planechase)
What’s your favorite thing about the Magic community? the sense of support for others that the community provides. this is a fandom that is so encouraging of new players, players treated unfairly, trans players, players who want to learn more, etc, that it makes my heart swell
Anything else you want to say? if you’re reading this and have never played the game, give it a try. it’s genuinely the best of its kind and if it makes any difference to you, it’s changed my life for the better more than any other game ever
