I’m toying around with redesigns for the Bendlings (now called Jewel-Eaters) for the Red Ink Saga soft-reboot. This one plays up their “squat burrowing animal” aspect nicely and it’s also pretty much what I’d imagine a rock-eating imp to look like. Something about the proportions bothers me, though. Maybe I made the head a bit too small? Or maybe I’m too used to drawing Bendlings with massive noggins. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The main reason Zach doesn’t eat rocks and dirt like other Bendlings is because he was raised by his grandpa Sisu, who eats “people” food. He still digs, though (that’s instinctual.)

here be Ka The Matriarch, the closest thing the Bendlings have to a leader and one of the few Bendlings infected with the Red Ink. They head the tri-weekly night raids on the surface world.
