Anniversary (Benedict x reader)
A/N hey guys, since on Sunday is Benedict’s anniversary with Sophie, I decided to write this for you, I hope you like it :D
Summary: Ben has a surprise for your wedding anniversary not knowing you have one for him too that will change his life forever.
You open your eyes at the morning light that peers through your window. You feel a hot breath on your neck and a strong arm around your waist. A smile makes its way to your lips once realisation hits you. Today is yours and Ben’s wedding anniversary! Carefully, you turn around so as to not wake Benedict. You stare at him, admiring his handsome features. He looks so calm and peaceful that your smile never leaves your face.
You start playing with his curls until he begins to wake up. “Good morning, love.” you whisper to him. Benedict opens his unique eyes, staring down at you in an adoring way “Good morning (y/n).” he says in his deep morning voice that makes you go weak on the knees. “Happy anniversary Benedict.” “Happy anniversary, darling.” you both smile to each other until he leans to you and presses his soft lips on yours.
You gladly kiss him back, running your hands through his curls while his are on your hips. Once you two part away from the kiss, you say “I’ll go make some breakfast.” his grip around you tightens “I don’t want you to go.” he says to you while he buries his face in your neck. You sigh lovingly at your husband “Then you can come with me Ben.”
At this he looks at you and you continue “You can help me make those special pancakes that I know you love and then we can do whatever you want. It’s Sunday after all.” he grins at you and gets out of bed. Taking his hand, you both go to the kitchen. Ben sits in one of the stools that are in the big kitchen and watches as you start to prepare his pancakes.
“I can’t believe it’s been three years since we got married, Ben.” you say to him “I can’t believe it either. It seems only yesterday that I met you at the Sherlock set.” you chuckle at his words “Yeah. But these have been the happiest years of my life.” he smiles lovingly at you and says “And I hope we can have more time like this. Together. Just you and me against the world.” you laugh at his dramatic demands and a proud smirk plasters on his face, knowing that he was the reason for your angelic laugher.
Once you two ate your breakfast, Ben asks you “(y/n), do you still have that blue dress that Amanda gave you?” you look at him with curiosity in your (e/c) eyes “Yes, of course. You know I love that dress, why do you ask?” he sighs, taking your hand in his large one “I have a surprise for you,” at this, your eyes glow with enthusiasm “and I would like you to wear that dress.” you smile at him “What are you up to Mr. Cumberbatch?” you ask him “You’ll have to wait and see, Mrs. Cumberbatch.” he presses a kiss to your palm and you giggle a bit. Thinking about his ‘surprise’.
Benedict and you spend the day together, just enjoying each other's company. Sharing kisses and hugs, sweet words and more kisses. A perfect Sunday, though you’ll be lying if you say you aren’t anxious for Ben’s surprise, you have one surprise to give him too. And you can’t wait to tell him!
At around 4:00 pm, while you are cuddled on the couch with Benedict reading a book to you, he says. “We should start getting ready for your surprise,” you look up at him with a look that says’ But what about the book that you were reading to me?’ he chuckles softly and answers your unspoken question “We’ll continue it later darling. But your surprise is a bit far from here, so you better start getting ready. And don’t forget to put on your blue dress.” you kiss him softly on the lips and say “Okay. I’ll go to our room to get changed but you better start doing it too as I’m always ready first.” a deep laugh erupts from his chest, standing up from the couch with you, he says “Alright, let’s go.” And you both head up stairs to your bedroom.
Surprisingly, Ben was ready in just one hour while you took two. He said he’ll wait for you down stairs; so, applying a last touch of lipstick, you grab your purse, making sure that Ben’s surprise is in there and you exit the room. You start to go down the white stairs and see how Benedict’s gaze sparkles when he sees you. Once you get to the bottom of the stairs, you ask him. “Isn’t this dress too much for the evening?”
He smiles widely at you and says “Of course not (y/n). You look perfect. Besides, I’m wearing my blue suit to match with you.” you smile with pure love and excitement at him, then, he puts on his jacket and helps you with your coat, after that, he offers you his arm and says “Shall we go Mrs. Cumberbatch?” you take his arm and answer “We shall Mr. Cumberbatch.” You two exit the big house and Benedict helps you into the car. He then joins you in the driver’s seat and starts the car, accelerating in the road, giving your hand a light squeeze before returning his attention to the street.
The car ride was long but you enjoyed each other’s presence, Benedict parks the car outside of what looks like a garden, he exits the car and goes to your side, helping you out of it. You two start walking towards the beautiful garden with lanterns on the path and an enchanted kiosk in the middle of it.
There is a table for two in the centre of the kiosk, with a candle between the two plates and rose petals on the ground. On seeing this, you gasp and Benedict whispers in your ear “Do you like it?” you turn to him and say “I love it! It’s...it’s beautiful Ben” he kisses you passionately on the lips and then says in a low voice “I’m glad you like it.” You both approach your seats and Ben pulls out the chair for you and you smile, thankfully.
After a couple of minutes, a waiter comes out of a small kitchen that is far away from you two, he brings with him two plates with some salmon and spaghetti. “Bon appetit.” says the waiter and returns to the kitchen. “This is beautiful Ben.” he takes your hand from across the table and says “I know you don’t like fancy things but I felt that the woman who stole my heart and now is my wife deserves the world at her feet.” You smile at him “I love you Ben. I love you so much. And thank you for doing this, I really like it.” he smiles sweetly at you “Happy anniversary.” he says while racing his glass of champagne “For more years together.” you raise your glass and say “For an eternity.” you both clink your glasses and take a sip from the bubbly drink.
After dessert, you are just talking about random things that time flows by. Then you say “I have something to give you too, you know?” he raises his eyebrow and leans on the table. You start to look in your purse, finding the little box you packed earlier at the house, you slide it towards him, but before he could reach it, you say “I was dying to give you this but I thought this would be the best moment to do it so...” he looks at you curiously and grabs the box. Opening it carefully, he sees the content and it looks like he freezes in time.
After a couple of minutes of him staring down at the box, he picks up its content, and holding it in one hand and with happy tears in his eyes he whispers “I’m going to be a dad? You smile widely at him and with watery eyes too, you nod. He stands up from his seat, embraces you, picking you up and twirling you around a couple of times.
Once he puts you on the ground, he cups your face with his large hands and kisses you with so much passion and love that you smile in the kiss. When he pulls away, he says, this time more loudly “I’m going to be a dad!” you chuckle at his reaction and then he asks you “Since when did you know?” “It’s just been a week since I found out.”
Ben kisses you again and says “This is the best anniversary surprise you could have ever gotten me.” you blink at him “You are going to be a dad Ben, and I’m going to be a mom. We are going to be parents!” he hugs you again and says with his chin over your head “I love you (y/n). And I love this little one over here too.” you feel how one of his hands is pressed on your stomach “I love you too Ben.” hugging once again, you two start to sway in the place, just the two of you and in a couple of months later, your baby too. And you both couldn’t wait for that moment to arrive.
