part 1.
synopsis. At the Grammys, you sit in the crowd trying to stay calm as Benito faces the biggest moment of his career. When he wins Album of the Year, his speech turns unexpectedly intimate, openly thanking his girlfriend for standing by him through everything. It’s basically a soft launch
note. I hope you enjoy my work, all of these Benito fics be inspiring me to write again. BUT this halftime show really made me fall back into my bad bunny obsession lol. There are a few sentences in Spanish, I’m a little bit of a no sabo but Google Translate is weird sometimes so I apologize if I made any grammar mistakes. but I hope you guys enjoy 🖤.
warnings. none just fluff
THE GRAMMYS were always loud.
Not just the music, not just the cameras flashing like lightning, but the kind of loud that came from being surrounded by people who knew the world was watching.
Every smile was practiced. Every glance was analyzed. And you were sitting in the crowd, hands folded neatly in your lap, trying to breathe like you belonged here.
Which was funny, because technically, you did.
You weren’t just some random plus-one.
As an influencer/creator, you were honored a seat at this event.
But tonight you weren’t thinking about your followers.
You weren’t thinking about the fact that your dress had already been posted on ten different fashion accounts.
You were thinking about him.
Benito.
Across the room, he sat a few rows ahead, dressed in black, jewelry catching the light every time he moved.
He looked calm. Too calm. Like he wasn’t nominated for Album of the Year.
Like he wasn’t about to either make history… or lose.
You’d been with him through all of it, quietly. The late-night studio sessions. The secret flights. The moments where he was just a man, not a global obsession.
And the one rule that had kept it all safe…Nobody knew.
The internet had theories, of course. They always did. Fans had noticed you around. A few blurry backstage clips. A couple of coincidences that were too perfect to ignore.
But it was always framed as friendship. Safe. Easy.
Benito never confirmed anything and you never posted anything that would make it real.
So you stayed in this strange in between.
The show continued. Awards, speeches, performances. Time blurred into glitter and applause. You clapped when you were supposed to. Smiled when cameras passed.
But every few minutes, your gaze drifted back to Benito like gravity.
Then, finally, it happened. Harry Styles walked up to the stage, ready to announce the winner of this years album.. “And the Grammy goes to…”
Your stomach dropped. The room went still.
“Bad Bunny Debi Tirar Más Fotos”
For a second, there was silence. Then the entire place erupted. Applause crashed like a wave, people standing, cheering.
Benito sat perfectly still for a minute, like his body needed to catch up with reality. His hand pressed up to his face in attempt to stop his tears from flowing.
Then he stood. You felt your chest tighten before standing up and applauding proudly.
As he walked toward the stage, the cameras followed every step. He looked unreal under the lights.
And you found yourself holding your breath without meaning to. Benito reached the microphone, Grammy in hand, applause still roaring.
The crowd quieted.
He glanced down at the award, then back up.
“Puerto Rico, créeme cuando te digo, cuando somos mucho más grandes que 100 x 35 , y no hay nada que no podamos lograr.”
“Gracias, Dios. Gracias a la Academia. Gracias a todos los que han creído en mí a lo largo de toda mi carrera. Gracias a todas las personas que han trabajado en este álbum.”
He spoke smoothly and you listened, proud, heart swelling.
This was his moment. He deserved it and you couldn’t be prouder
He took a breath, steadying himself.
Then his voice softened, just a little, like the arena full of celebrities suddenly didn’t matter as much.
“Y… también quiero darle las gracias a mi familia.”
A ripple of warmth crossed his face.
The crowd clapped again, gentle this time. Respectful.
Benito swallowed hard, blinking fast. His gaze shifted. Not to the cameras. Not to the producers. Not to the other artists standing nearby.
To you.
It was quick. Barely a second. But it felt like someone had turned the volume down on the entire universe.
His lips parted like he hadn’t meant to say it, like it slipped out from somewhere real.
“Y a major thank you…”
He paused, and the room held its breath with him.
"To the person who has been with me in silence."
A few people chuckled softly, thinking it was poetic.
But you couldn’t breathe.
“On the good days... and on the days when I didn't even know who I was without all this."
He lifted the Grammy slightly, like it suddenly weighed too much.
“Tú sabes quién eres.” (“You know who you are.”)
It wasn’t a name nor was it a confirmation.
But it was… everything. Your throat tightened, eyes stinging.
The cameras didn’t know where to look. The crowd applauded louder, assuming it was just part of the speech.
But you knew. Benito’s jaw clenched, emotion cracking through the edges of his composure.
His voice dropped again.
“Gracias, amor.”
The room erupted again, cheers and whistles filling the space, but you were frozen in your seat, hands trembling in your lap.
Because he’d done it, in the only way he could…
He’d made you real. His eyes flicked to you one more time, softer now, like a promise.
And then he finished, lifting the Grammy with pride.
“Los amo. Puerto Rico… esto es por ustedes. Gracias.”
He stepped back from the mic, applause swallowing him whole.
But you were still standing there, heart pounding so hard it felt like the world could hear it.
People around you clapped, some turning, some smiling.
your eyes were locked on him as he walked offstage. Benito disappeared behind the curtain and your phone buzzed almost instantly in your lap.
Slowly, you glanced down at the screen. A single message.
Benito: Ven.
Another one appeared almost instantly, like he couldn’t help himself.
Benito: Dressing room. Ahora.
Benito: Necesito verte… por favor.
You swallowed hard, pulse roaring in your ears.
Because backstage wasn’t just backstage tonight. It was the only place in the world where you wouldn’t have to pretend.
You rose carefully from your seat, smoothing your dress with shaky hands, slipping through the aisle as the crowd stayed focused on the stage.
No one noticed. Or maybe they did, but no one understood.
Your heels clicked softly against the floor as you moved faster, heart pounding with every step.
Because he’d just won the biggest award of his life.
And all he wanted was you.
