Basically during early showa (1920s-1930s) there was an economic depression, and families did everything they could to have enough money to survive, including the sale of their daughters into prostitution
You probably already expect what I'll say next ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
That's right, my new headcanon is that benitsu was sold (while many minor girls were sold, young adults were too, and considering the fact that the story happens in 1938 and that benitsu is somewhere around late 30s-mid 40s id consider this headcanon accurate) and it might explain why she's such a horny bitch because she learned NOTHING.
