Nobody:
Mira and Charles the second they adopt Ben:
Mira: Being a parent's tough.
Shadow: So is drawing.
Mira: Yeah, so is drawing. But, listen, how many times have you banged your knee or scratched yourself playing with your dad?
Shadow: um...
[FLASHBACK]
Charles: No ticket!
[Shadow shrieks and giggles. Then, he bumps on the couch]
Shadow: Argh!
Charles: Whoop! Ooh! You right, mate?
Shadow: Um, yeah, I just banged my knee.
[ANOTHER FLASHBACK]
Charles: I am sick of this boomerang!
[Ben shrieks
END FLASHBACK]
Shadow: Lots.
Mira: And what's the first thing he always says?
Shadow: Um...
[FLASHBACK]
Charles: Don't tell your mum.
[END FLASHBACK]
Mira: What?!
[Shadow giggles. Charles slides into frame]
Charles: It's Dad!
[Mira growls]
Charles: Uh, I'll come back later.
Has Ben ever not taken his anti-seizure medicine to, maybe, feel more in control of his body/self? If yes What happened?
He has stopped taking it for a little bit, because his side effects made him sick. Mira suggested that they change his dosage, but Ben was adamant that he didn't want ANY medicine.
So, they allowed him a week, to get the medicine out of his system and to allow himself to experience what he is like without his seizure meds.
By the third day, he had had five seizures.
And Ben was terrified.
Mira told him that the medicine was keeping him safe. When you get a cut, you put a bandage or a plaster on it. When your brain is sick, the medicine is the plaster.
They went to the doctor to talk about medicine and he changed his prescription to a less intense one. And now, his side effects are minimal and he lives mostly seizure free.
Ben headcanons? haven’t thought about this lil’ man in a while
Ah yes, him, the bean.
Ben has a big coat that he loves wearing. It goes past his knees and its a dark green. It also has very long sleeves and should fit him for quite some time.
Ben and Sally have definitely done the "she's touching me" thing from Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch before.
Ben doesn't like the feeling of chalk.
Someone: What's Ben short for?
[Charles and Ben look at each other. Ben closes his eyes, nods and looks to Charles. Charles then nods back]
Charles: It's because he's only ten.
Older Ben headcanons?
Ben definitely grows into the hipster gamer boy type (beanie, long hair, nerdy t-shirt with flannel over it), and is officially adopted by Charles and Mira.
When he's about 15 or so, he starts working on making a video game in his free time. About a little elf exploring his trauma.
Very therapeutic for him.
Charles offers to help compose some music for the game, and he accepts. It becomes a really good father-son bonding experience.
Then, Samuel (Charles and Mira's 3rd oldest) helps with some designs for levels and layouts. And soon it becomes a family bonding time.
Also, Ben becomes quite lanky, but never caps 5 foot five. Long limbs, but very small.
He also wears his glasses a lot more (even if they broke and were taped together across the bridge).
A few questions, if you don’t mind?
Does Ben ever experience trauma from his seizures? Like, fear of going to a certain location, or wearing a certain item of clothing because he had a seizure there/in it?
What are his seizures like and what kinds of seizures does he have?
What was his worst seizure?
I've answered what they're like before.
And for the clothing and location one, he doesn't like going to the cinema anymore, because he had a really bad seizure there, same with a very specific trampoline park (if you're in the UK, you know what one I mean).
He also has several tshirts he doesn't like wearing as much because he had seizures in them.
