For the past three years I’ve been writing/arranging/otherwise trying to make an album, and most of that time it has been called Madrugada. It’s a Spanish word that means “the time before midnight and sunrise”, or sometimes just “sunrise.” For a while I frequently found myself going on walks around my neighborhood very late at night, listening to music and thinking. The album is in a lot of ways the result of those wee-hours walks, and that pensive, streetlamp atmosphere informed a lot of the sonic and lyrical content of the record.
This is the main theme of that album, a melody that appears a few times throughout because I had it in my head all the time back then. We’re finally recording it for real this time - we just tracked drums last week, and are working on the rest of it now. It will be out in November of 2016.
