I went skydiving yesterday. It’s weird that jumping out of planes is a thing that people do for fun but it was a lot of fun so
Sassy shirt?
Not sassy enough to justify spending money, I already bought a shirt today, nevermind.
Three-month-later update: I should have bought that shirt.
what she says: I'm fine
what she means: What the fuck kind of custody arrangement does The Parent Trap family have? Whose idea was it to take one kid each and never speak to each other again? Never even tell the daughter they're raising that they're a twin? Nobody hates their ex-spouse that much, and if you do you definitely don't want that person raising one of your kids. Why are the extended family and friends going along with this? Were they sworn to secrecy? Why? How did they choose who would take which twin? Did they both just have a clear favorite? How do you not eat yourself alive with guilt over a decision like that? Why did they make it in the first place? Did a judge make the decision? Who the fuck was THAT guy? Either the family in The Parent Trap have some incredibly dark secrets that weren't explored in the movies (original or remake) or they're the worst "good" parents in fictional family history.

You can’t see any of it because I forgot to take pictures of anything other than the drum kit (in fairness, it was a busy day and picture taking was a secondary concern), but the place we recorded these drums in was gorgeous. The drummer, who plays in a great band called Friendship in Philadelphia is a gardener for this couple who live on a beautifully landscaped expansive property/mansion. We were in the disconnected garage/apartment the whole time, but it still was a great way to spend some time outside of the city. We went on a walk through the woods with some cool puppers too.
For the past three years I’ve been writing/arranging/otherwise trying to make an album, and most of that time it has been called Madrugada. It’s a Spanish word that means “the time before midnight and sunrise”, or sometimes just “sunrise.” For a while I frequently found myself going on walks around my neighborhood very late at night, listening to music and thinking. The album is in a lot of ways the result of those wee-hours walks, and that pensive, streetlamp atmosphere informed a lot of the sonic and lyrical content of the record.
This is the main theme of that album, a melody that appears a few times throughout because I had it in my head all the time back then. We’re finally recording it for real this time - we just tracked drums last week, and are working on the rest of it now. It will be out in November of 2016.
It’s hard to imagine an artist who works harder or cares more about what his fans think than Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. For the past 20-plus years he’s been a tireless and meticulous songwriter who maintains incredibly detailed spreadsheets with hundreds of titles for songs that don’t yet exist, and lyric fragments organized by word and syllable count. He obsessively studies the intricacies of other well-loved pop songs, cataloging every element, trying to understand why they work and how he can make his own songs better.
On this week’s show, Rivers Cuomo joins us to share some of the stories behind the band’s new record and to play some of the songs by other artists he’s loving now, from the propulsive pop of Panic! At The Disco to the dance beats of Gwen Stefani. He also talks about what it’s like to reach middle age, have kids and how he stays inspired to write songs that still resonate with young people.

Logan is my least favorite of Rory's romantic interests, which is mostly because he reminds me of a lot of the guys I didn't like in high school, but also because he just generally kind of sucks.

I'm LOLing at your awkwardly executed attempts at appealing to a younger audience, Opera Philadelphia.
Today is the day to vote in the PA primary election! So if you are a person that lives in Pennsylvania you should make sure to go vote.

I’m not sure why I bother with Tumblr - I’m pretty sure no one will see these posts but this is for Tom Scharpling’s studio (The Best Show podcast).
Sick
Today rekindled my motivation to work on the album - the past month or so has been really crazy and hectic, so I haven't had too much time or energy to think about recording recently. But a few things happened today (won't say what because nothing is set in stone) that made me feel like "Hey, we might actually make this thing the way I want it to" and now I'm all excited to finish up the arrangements get things moving. Real stoked.
