The Angel, bronze and clay (2017) Benjamin Victor (American, b. 1979) found inspiration in photographs of dancer Dayna Marshall, whose fluid leaps suggested a weightless, floating angel. He translated her movements into the dramatic wings and the flowing drapery that physically supports the bronze form.

The youthful figure in a somber pose creates a visual paradox reflecting the dual nature of humanity as both spiritual and physical beings.
