Blackout Tuesday

So Spotify and Apple Music are sharing black artists' music today on their streaming sites in solidarity with Blackout Tuesday. It's like all the music I grew up listening to in the late 80s, all through the 90s is finally being listened to by the Boomers (my parents), Millenials and Gen Z! I've known all of this since I was 10 or 11 years old and heard N.W.A., Public Enemy, 2Pac, and others rap about the crooked ass cops and racist ass politicians. I was getting educated then about race, culture and the judicial system and I could follow along just fine. I even got picked on, mocked and made fun of, in the racist little redneck town I grew up in. I can't tell you how many times I was called the N-Word just because I wore baggy clothes and listened to rap music in middle school through high school! And now, here we are 30 years later (I'm 41) and nobody else learned how to treat people? Maybe learn about another culture? Ask questions? Read books? Listen to that old music and try to educate themselves? America is fucked up. I'm embarrassed. I'm embarrassed by how dumb white people are. - Bennedeto (Rico is my first name.
