BENNETT
He is one of the friendliest, kindest and most unselfish people you will ever meet. It will be so difficult not to get attached to him since he’s such a sweet boy.
He is a very giving person also. He offers his own food at mealtimes when you’re with him, or he accompanies you when you’re alone and looking lonely. If he wasn’t even your friend before, it’s quite easy for that to change.
“Have you ever tasted the most delicious Sweet Madame? Leave it to me! I can cook one for you!”
Although you’d have to sometimes be careful with what he does because it’s proven and tested that the gods don't seem to side with him at all times.
“Or… maybe not. Let’s order from Good Hunter instead, yeah?”
His (lack of) luck may prove to be a hindrance, but really, it will just make you want to be his friend since nobody seems to have the guts to be one.
Also, if you’re tired or just too lazy walking? Leave it to Bennett! He’ll piggy-back you for as much as you want! Or maybe, he’d find a cart for him to wheel while you’re resting on it!
Doesn’t matter if he’s getting tired though. He’s self-sacrificial like that. Please tell him to rest every once in a while.
Also, have I ever told you how he’s extremely full of ideas? It’s because he’s already used to being pushed to the limit. He’s very crafty and resourceful when needed be—which is most of the time for him.
Bored? Need something to do? He’ll urge you to join him in “Adventures”!
Don’t wanna do what you got to do? He’ll help out! And hey, you’ll have fun at the same time because he’s gonna make mistakes here and there, but with “your luck,” as he’d like to point out, you two still finish what needs to be done in the end:)
There are pros and cons to being friends with him, but he’s one of the most loyal and kindest that you could ever find. If he’s your friend, he’s serious with it. He’d do everything for you and even if you don’t do the same, he remains the same.

it's a terribly dark day, with smoky grey clouds covering the sky and blocking out any opportunity for the sun to shine through, its rays unable to caress your skin with warmth. heavy rain pours down, almost as if the heavens are mimicking their tears trickling down your cheeks. thunder rumbles in the distance, and a booming clap of jagged lightning flashes across the sky, illuminating the rest of galesong hill. mud stains the back of your clothes from how you're lying down in the grass, and you just pray that no hilichurls are alerted to your presence, because you doubt you have the energy to face them now.
"y/n! there you are, i've been looking for you," a familiar voice calls out, prompting you to turn around to see them, only to be met with your boyfriend's face. "oh, hi, bennett," you mumble, forcing yourself up into a sitting position. "i couldn't find you all day! are you okay?" bennett asks concernedly, worry shining in his green eyes. "i'm fine. don't worry about me," you state, rubbing your cheeks aggressively to wipe off any hint of tear streaks. bennett comes closer before plopping onto the ground beside you and crossing his legs, "y/n, you're lying down in the middle of nowhere during a thunderstorm. there's no way you're okay." you frown, unsure how to reply and turn away, "i guess you're right." as soon as the cold words slip from your mouth, you feel guilt wash over you for responding like that to your his attempt at caring for you, but you can't seem to form the words to apologise.
it would probably be better if he left, he deserved someone so much better than you. you were weak, today you had fought an abyss mage for one of your commissions and escaped by the skin of your teeth. the injuries you had gained still hurt whenever you moved, and the bruise on your self-esteem was much worse than any external wound. if you couldn't even defend yourself from a puny mage, how on earth could you ever climb the ranks of the adventurer's guild and become a renowned adventurer? bennett deserved someone much more talented, like lumine, the hero of mondstadt, or perhaps fischl, whose unique manner of speaking had combined with her adventuring skills had made her a rising star. you cover your face with your hands as more hot tears form in your eyes, trying your best not to let bennett see.
but instead of walking away like you had expected, bennett lies down next to you! placing his hands under his head, he adjusts himself until he's comfortable before speaking, "y/n, i'm not going to push you to open up to me - of course, i do hope it would make you feel better, but i'm not going to force you to do anything. what i'm also not going to do is leave you alone." facing you, bennett intertwines his fingers with yours, his wet ashy hair tumbling into his face, "no matter what you're going through, just know that i love you with my whole entire heart! and i'll always be there for you, just like how you are for me!" he reaches out with a gloved hand to cup your face, and with a soft smile, he murmurs, "you're my good luck charm, after all. the only person who never leaves my side even after everything the curse brings."
his gentle yet genuine words cause you to sob quietly as you bury your head in his chest, "but bennett, i don't want to hold you back or anything. you deserve someone who can keep up with you." your insecurities spill out, and you feel a weight lift from your chest as you finally confess them out loud. "y/n," bennett's startling green eyes focus on your irises, "you never give yourself enough credit for how accomplished you really are. i consider myself lucky to be able to be on the same team as such a wonderful adventurer, and you could never hold me back." he hugs you tightly, "and i love spending time with you no matter what it is, so if you want to lie down in the rain, i'm totally down for it."
you can't help but smile at him, affection glimmering in your gaze, "bennett, i'm sorry about being mean earlier. you know i love you, right?" he grins and offers you a thumbs up, "of course!" snuggling a little closer to him for some warmth, you murmur, "maybe i'd like to lie here with you for a little while longer." and as bennett drops a kiss onto your head, uttering, "sure!" the rain suddenly doesn't feel like harsh hail, but rather as if the heavens are crying tears of joy from how jealous it is that you've got such a sweet boyfriend.

Sometimes, you didn’t know why you joined the Adventurer’s Guild. You never really got anything from them; you didn’t know why anyone else joined either. In the end, there wasn’t really a benefit. Well, maybe the one thing was meeting Bennett. No one liked him around when adventuring. You knew why, but you didn’t mind. In fact, you chose him for that reason. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, you supposed. But, with no reason to stay in the Adventurer’s Guild, you set out to search for something more meaningful to do. You learned a sliver of information not many else knew, and you found the one.
For once, becoming a harbinger was something you understood. You’d been told that it was an evil act, but those in the guild were simply naive.
“(Y/N)... you’re alright!”
You simply stared at him.
“Wait- you’re the fatui harbinger...?”
“Bennett,” you sighed. “One day, you’ll understand.”
The urge to hug him as you had before resurfaced, but it was pushed back down into the depths of your heart.
