"Okay, your injuries will get better soon! For now, please take some rest! Your injuries won't be able to heal if you don't!" A girl with blonde hair and blue eyes pleaded to the boy while patching up his scars, the boy then flashed up a smile and laughed a bit.
"Well, he.. I can't really promise all of that Barbara! You know how I am..." the boy white-haired boy said while chuckling a bit, which made Barbara frown a bit.
"Bennett!" She exclaimed which made Bennett scratch the back of his head while still laughing.
After some minutes, Bennett was able to leave the cathedral with Barbara waving slightly worried for the boy and him waving back while flashing a thumbs up.
"Finally! Some fresh air! I definitely need it after going with that Electro Hypostatis... Yeah, those stings are still quite a pain-!" Bennett exclaimed after Barbara closed the cathedral doors, Bennett then stretched and while stretching, he suddenly felt a sting on his left arm, then a rock hitting his head right after.
"OW-!"
Bennett slightly hissed from the pain, but suddenly got an idea.
"Yep, Yeah I'm going to (Name)" He murmured slightly while holding on to his left arm due to the pain and went and briskly walked to their house.
Reader's POV:
(Name) suddenly looked up while trying to cook a Chicken-Mushroom Skewer and made a curious face.
'Why do I feel like someone's coming over? Eh, probably just a random tho-' They thought and paused but once they looked back, they found out their Skewer was getting overcooked, close to burnt.
"SHOOT! SHOOT!" They shouted out and instantly got it out of the oven while blowing it and complaining to themself.
After they stopped the Skewer from getting overcooked, worse burnt, They sighed and went to their sofa to calm down and lay down, and suddenly after some minutes, their mother called out for them.
"(Name)! Someone's at the door!" Their mother exclaimed which made (Name) get their arm from stop covering their eyes and scowled a bit.
"WHO EVEN IS I-" They complained slightly and put their hand back over their eyes until...
"IT'S BENNETT!"
(Name) then quickly sat up and fixed themselves up a bit and ran to the door.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT EARLIER!"
Once (Name) opened the door, they saw Bennett, smiling like always seemingly hiding something from his back, which made (Name) twitch their eyebrows.
"What's that?" (Name) pointed out, they hovered towards Bennett's back only for him to back away, then fall to the ground which made him wince in pain a bit.
"U-uh, nothing! I-I'll just show you when we get to your room." He said hurryingly and stood up once more with his signature smile back intact.
"Ok then, come in." (Name) grabbed Bennett's arm and brought him to the living corridor, then closed the front door.
'Can't have his foot get stuck in that door again.' (Name) thought, they can get quite protective of Bennett sometimes, they know how much Bennett is said to be a bad luck charm (And honestly same-) so they usually are on watch at all times when he's with them, and if someone insults the guy, it's on sight for them.
(Name) then brought Bennett to their room and laid down, sighing, while Bennett sat at the end of the bed, looking a tad nervous.
"Hey... you seem a bit nervous, are you ok?" (Name) questioned him and sat beside him which made him look at them a bit worryingly which was responded with a small 'Yeah'.
'that's hard to believe' they thought with a small frown on their face.
Bennett then looked at them directly, and chuckled lightly, 'What's worrying him today? His hands were twitching when he came here, and he's been uncharacteristically quiet. Yeah, no, he's not fine and I am about to go full interrogation mode.' (Name) thought while looking at Bennett.
"Hey Name? Yo-you know you've always been by my side ever since I met you outside the gates of Mondstat while I was getting yelled at for being a bad luck to the village...? I-I wanna thank you for that specific day, I know this may just be a small gesture but..." Bennett said in a tad quiet voice and brings something out of his pocket, (Name) then looked down at the object and their eyes widened a bit.
It was a red Cecilia, a dead one however, which made Bennett widen his eyes a bit.
"Oh! Haha! Looks like it died along the way.. Just my luck..." He said in an embarrassed tone and muttered the final words before almost putting it back to his pocket. "I'm sorry I just-" and before he can put it back, (Name) stopped him and gently held his hand, then held the Cecilia in their hand smiling.
"It's pretty..." (Name) murmured and stared fondly at the Cecilia, which made the white-haired boy look at them with shock.
"Y-you don't hate it?" He said quickly and looked back at the Cecilia which made (Name) nod.
"Of course, it came from you after all." They gently said and laid it on the side table and held Bennet's hand which made him slightly blush, then chuckle.
After some minutes, (Name) soon fell asleep from the calm noises and just the simple want of sleeping, without noticing that Bennett was staring deeply into (Name) and tidied a strand of her hair from their face.
"Many people may come and go in my life, but no matter how big it gets. Just know, I won't see nobody but you."
HUHUUU... IT POSTED RANDOMLY WHEN I LOST CONNECTION.. (´Д`|||)

Two brainrot posts in a row, what wild times. Back to Bennett content we go. These past few days I’ve been binging Studio Ghibli movies (I had seen a couple but not many), and I’m happy I finally did because I really like them! One thing about me is that I end up thinking of Bennett x Reader AUs for fun almost on reflex, and one ghibli movie that did it for me this time was Arrietty. So, under the cut I’ll be putting my brainrot for this AU (like my Zhongli thing I posted before this, it’s not anything properly polished, it’s just ramblings really).
For context if you haven’t seen the movie, Borrowers are tiny people who ‘borrow’ things from the house they live in and aren’t meant to be seen (that’s basically the premise lol).
Word count under the cut: 3.2k, uses they/them pronouns and some second person POV as well
Okay so this is the plotline my brain came up with:
Bennett is chilling in his home in the city when one day he gets contacted by one of his grandfathers. His grandfathers are unique in the sense both his blood grandfathers and a lot of those grandfathers’ friends all live together in this big retirement mansion thing in the rural forest area, away from the stress of the city. The men all decided it would be better than retiring separately, this way they could be less alone.
The grandads had a live-in carer, but in the letter Bennett gets, he learns said carer has just retired. The bottom line is they ask Bennett to come stand in as the carer, because there’s too many of them with too many weaknesses to be able to live in the mansion without help for even a short amount of time. The letter insists it will only be until they find a new formal carer, and they’d even pay him for it.
Deciding it wouldn’t hurt to visit his grandads and their friends which were basically also his grandads, Bennett packs up for a bit and heads out to the countryside. It’s a ways out from anything (let’s assume he drives albeit very carefully), and when he reaches the forest, he notices said forest is extremely dense and wild.
The mansion is located in a clearing in the forest, nature growing almost wildly on and around everything in sight.
Bennett is welcomed warmly by the grandads and settles in, getting used to the routine for the next few days. The house is large and multi-storeyed; his room as carer is one of the spare guest rooms towards the top, and it’s quite expensively furnished.
Bennett is cautious though, because he has and has had remarkably bad luck all his life, which has caused him many great woes…
He also meets the few other staff, such as the cook and the groundskeeper (who don’t have identities because I didn’t get that far).
Everything is going fine enough when one day, Bennett is serving the dads food but drops a plate. In his haste to clean it up he cuts his finger. Assuring everyone he’s fine, he tells them he’ll just pop back upstairs and get one of his bandaids.
So, he rushes up to his room, swings open the door and looks at the low table he’d left his bag of medical supplies, only to see…
A tiny person. A tiny person who was holding one of his bandaids with both hands, staring at him with wide eyes.
Welp, the tiny person made a sound like a squeak and immediately darted away, abandoning the band-aid, leaping to the floor and sprinting under furniture while Bennett panicked and thought he was hallucinating. He was frozen for a long while before running and putting his head to the floor to peek under the furniture, but there was nothing but dust.
Of course, he told his dads immediately in his shocked stupor, wondering what had even just happened. He didn’t expect them to burst out laughing.
“Why, the house’s spell has fallen on Benny boy too!” He was still completely confused, and one grandad finally explained to him. “These woods aren’t just regular woods, they’re magic woods! We believe the woodland spirits have cast a spell on this very house! Makes us see things and messes with our heads!”
The grandads nod in agreement. “Rarely, once every few years, one of us swears something goes missing. But we can never prove it for certain. Like a single tissue or a cube of sugar… Then, one of us swore he saw, late at night, the shadow of a tiny person no bigger than your finger, jumping out the window. The thing was gone before we could even get a second look. Haven’t seen it since then, but those disappearances keep happening… So! The second best guess we got is that there’s a spell on the house. Because otherwise… Well, tiny people! Who’d believe that!”
They’re dismissive even when Bennett continues to claim he saw a tiny person. “We’re old, our minds can’t always be trusted. Maybe being around us has impacted your mind too, Benny. Anyway, I’m hungry!”
Sighing but finally letting it go, Bennett gets back to work. Although that night he kept looking at the windowsill, eyes peeled for little people. He knew what he saw, he was sure of it now that the shock had worn off. He had already looked at the Band-Aid, but it looked exactly the same as any other.
The only curious thing was that it had been resting on the table rather than in his bag with the rest of them.
Days passed, and Bennett, while quiet to his dads about the incident, couldn’t stop thinking about the tiny person he had been trying to take one of his bandaids. Why had they been trying to take it?
Did they… need it?
The thought latched itself into his mind. So, he thought he’d try something. One night after everyone went to bed, he placed the Band-Aid at the edge of the furniture the tiny person had run under, along with a note. It had been hard to write that small.
‘Please take it if you need it!’ That was what he had written.
Alas, his spirits fell when the next morning the Band-Aid and note were untouched. He decided to leave it there… just in case.
In the meantime, every night in bed, Bennett would talk quietly. He didn’t know if the little person was even listening, but on the chance they were, he kept at it. He talked about who he was, why he was here, what his dads had said about little people. The only thing he didn’t mention was his luck.
“My grandads don’t believe you’re real, but I think you are... We kind of both freaked out when we saw each other, huh? I’ve never seen a little person like you before, and I must be a giant to you, but please don’t be scared! I think you’re amazing, and I just want to talk to you.”
Silence was his rely, and he sighed. “Well, if you’re listening, goodnight. Sleep well.”
In the morning Bennett almost bypassed it, but he did a double take and gawked at what he saw. Falling to his knees to confirm it, it was true.
The Band-Aid and note were gone.
Bennett sprinted downstairs to tell his dads, but they simply shook their heads. “Must have been a mouse. Honestly Bennett, we shouldn’t have told you about the spell! It’s working it’s magic, getting you obsessed!”
It was clear to Bennett that short of producing a tiny person in the flesh, his dads wouldn’t believe him.
It was all the encouragement he needed to to keep talking each night, telling stories of his times in the city, and placing another Band-Aid and note in the same spot. He also put a cube of sugar next to it too, recalling how that was one thing his dads noted had once gone missing mysteriously.
‘Please, can I see you again?’ That was what the note said this time.
Days more passed, and the Band-Aid and note remained in place. Although… on about the fourth day since then, the sugar cube vanished.
The grandads also had a calm dog who roamed the grounds, and it was there for therapy mostly. Bennett liked to play outside with the dog in his downtime. One day he was following the dog, when abruptly his bad luck struck. He tripped on a hidden root, and smacked his face right into a rock on the way down.
Groaning as he lay in the grass with his eyes closed, he clutched his nose and tried to take deep breaths.
“… Are you okay? You’re bleeding.”
That was not his voice, and the dog couldn’t talk so…
Bennett’s eyes shot open and he bolted into a sitting position, frantically looking around.
“It-it’s you! Little person! Oh, ah, don’t worry about this!” He moved his hand, only to wince as blood dripped down his face. “It’s fine I swear! But where are you? Can I see you?!”
He shuffled towards where he thought he heard the voice, hand feeling around under the layer of greenery covering the land. He yelped when something sharp jabbed his skin, and he wrenched his hand back to look at it.
A sewing pin…? It was sticking into his palm only slightly, and he plucked it out with ease.
“Stay back! Don’t try find me! I have more of those, and I can jab you much harder, Bean Bennett!”
He frowned and realised he had messed up. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you, I just got so happy that you’re talking to me! I won’t do that again, so please don’t leave!”
There was a minute of silence and Bennett’s heart sank. Boy, he’d blown his chance by being rash, letting his excitement get the better of him and now he’d scared the tiny person off and probably never hear them again-
“You’re still bleeding.”
He gasped, and then beamed in the general direction of the voice. “You didn’t leave! I’m so happy, heheh! Don’t worry about my face, I get cuts and bruises like this almost every day. I’ll bounce back just fine!”
He asked the question burning in his mind. “Why can’t you show yourself to me, little person? Oh I’m dumb, I didn’t even ask your name!”
You told him your name, and he repeated it to himself.
“Got it! Hey why am I not allowed to see you? I kind of saw you already when you were taking that Band-Aid, but you were behind it and I only saw your face.”
“That should never have happened. It was just bad luck is all. And Beans aren’t allowed to see Borrowers, that’s the rules! If you were staying here any longer I’d have to leave the house and find a new home.”
He was mulling over your choice of language about luck, cringing when his mind told him of course it was bad luck, he was there and he was a magnet for it. But, he quickly exclaimed in concern.
“Find a new home?! The next house isn’t for ages away, and that’s for someone my size! For you- gah! I’m sorry! I keep making things worse- but why would you have to leave if I was staying here longer?”
You spent the next however long engaged in conversation, explaining and answering his questions as best you could.
You were a Borrower, a little person who ‘borrowed’ from the human beings or ‘Beans’ as you called them, who lived in the house. But it was well known amongst Borrowers to never let humans know they exist, because Beans were dangerous. They could try trap or kill the Borrowers, despite even meaning well like Bennett.
You told Bennett in a harsh tone that you had listened to his conversations sometimes with his dads, that he had been trying to convince them he saw you and that you were real.
“You haven’t been here since your grandads moved in, Bean Bennett. I’ve heard their conversations. Some of them are just the type of Bean who’d try sell me for some money, or keep me in a jar like a specimen. The only reason I’m even talking to you is to say… thank you for the Band-Aid and sugar, and that you don’t need to give me anything else. Just forget this ever happened, honestly. You’ll be going soon anyway. The old Beans said they found someone to fill the job you’re doing. You can go back home and go to all the places you told me about.”
Bennett was in shock from the news his grandads had found a proper carer, but shook his head vehemently.
“I can’t ever forget meeting someone like you! And- and my grandads wouldn’t do stuff like what you said if you told them not to!”
Your voice was quiet, and sad. “You have too big a heart and see only the good in people. Your world is entirely different to mine… and you can’t change my mind. Your old Bean grandfathers can never meet me.”
Bennett was hurt and still didn’t entirely understand, lost for words. He was finally about to reply, but was called back to the house to help with dinner. He stood, looking at the patch of grass.
“… Fine. Ill stop talking to them about you, even if I don’t believe what you think of them. But if I’m really going to leave soon, can I see you before then?”
He got no response, and he called your name. “Please?”
His own name was called again from the house, and he hung his head. “I have to go. If you’re still listening, I… really do want to meet you. Even just once.”
And back to the house he went. Under the greenery next to the rock he had hit his face on, you were leaning against a stem, looking sadly at nothing in particular.
It was hard being the only Borrower in the house. It was… so terribly lonely. Bennett was the first Bean you’d spoken this openly to in forever, and listening to his stories while sitting under his windowsill outside, staring at the sky, had been so nice…
It was so lonely but also so dangerous to disregard the rules…
“Tsk.” You started making your way back to your own home under house’s floor, a humble collection of wooden furniture and simple appliances you had both crafted and raided from around the house. An old lighter for heat, a matchbox stuffed with cotton for a bed…
It was made much nicer by the plethora of nature you had decorated the space with.
At dinner that night, Bennett had indeed been told by his grandads they had found a formal carer, expecting Bennett to be relieved, but instead he just looked forlorn. That was until, another grandad came in and shared that the carer was going to be delayed in getting here due to sudden unfortunate events, so Bennett would be staying for another week at least.
For once he was thankful for his luck, and that night, even though he was dismayed to see no little person waiting for him, he retold this new information, only to chuckle and murmur you probably already knew this since you seemed to listen into conversations through the walls.
“You’re overestimating the time I spend listening to you Beans. I have my own things to do, you know.”
He had been lying in bed with his eyes shut, but they flew open and looked at his windowsill.
Looking down at him from the window, with an unimpressed expression, was you!
He froze, eyes wide and locked onto you, marveling at everything you were and how you had decided to show yourself to him. He called your name, and beamed as bright as the stars. “You- you’re here!“
He didn’t dare move, since you didn’t like when he got close last time. He noted you had another long sewing pin threaded into your clothing, like a tiny spear of sorts.
You spent some time talking to him on the sill. Apparently if he was to leave in roughly a week, you could settle with him seeing you. In turn, you wanted to know more about life outside of here, and he was happy to stay up into the late night storytelling.
When he yawned for the third time in five minutes, you told him it was time for him to sleep. He sulked and wanted to keep chatting, but you wished him a good night. He asked hurriedly if he would see you again as you made to leave, and you grunted an affirmative and leapt off the sill. Finally he moved, sitting up and watching the greenery of the vines under the sill rustle from your retreating form.
(General rambling time because from here on out it’s just snippets of plot)
- One night he’d be talking to you on the sill and finally talk about his luck, how it meant he was often on his own. He’d have an arm over his eyes and the other splayed out, and then suddenly he feels a little weight on his palm.
- You had climbed into his hand and looking at him sympathetically, and oh he was so careful to not make any sudden movements. You hugged his finger and told him you were sad for him because of his bad luck, and his heart wanted to burst from how much he wished he could hug you.
- He couldn’t see you much any other time besides at night since he was busy with his grandads, but you’d stand on his shoulder and he’d climb out onto the roof (recklessly) to show you the wonderful view
- Reader snuggling into his neck for warmth as the night is cold and him giggling about how that was ticklish
- Reader learning a way to comfort him is to scratch the back of his neck where his hair starts
- When he gets the rare time off in the day, they walk around the forest together with Reader on his shoulder or head. If a bird mistakes Reader for food, Bennett panics and holds them in his palms and runs away to safety.
- Reader sitting on a flower while Bennett lies in the grass and they chat about anything and everything
- Reader giving him little forehead kisses goodnight
- Fischl being a nice witch in the forest who can make Bennett Reader’s size for a night in exchange for a story of the outside world since she cannot leave the forest. Good thing he’s got plenty of those, and always been a natural storyteller.
Now there’s 3 possible routes this could take overall:
1. One of his dads notices something is up with Bennett, one that was the type of Bean you talked about… One day he follows Bennett and spots him talking to you, drama ensues when the man captures you and Bennett has to be led by the therapy dog to find where you were being held captive. It all works out but now you really have to leave the house. Bennett insists he takes you with him. You either agree or refuse, because the city is so widely different to the forest. Either way, Bennett will be there to help as much as he can!
2. This is the non dramatic plot line but Bennett’s stay comes to an end and he has to leave and go back to the city. He’s very very sad to leave Reader and they are sad he’s leaving too. Reader gives him one of their long spear-like sewing pins. They ask to get on his palm and bring them close to his face, and they give him a tiny peck on the cheek goodbye. He visits every summer since, and they have fluffy times together.
3. The new carer actually can’t take the job after all and Bennett jumps at the good luck to take the job properly. It would be a big shift to live in the forest but he didn’t have any solid reason to stay in the city anyway. And now he gets to live in the house permanently and then there’s plot or they just all live happily ever after, you the reader decide.
Aaaaand that’s all! I think this AU is very cute but kinda hard to really make into a non-bittersweet story due to someone usually having to leave 😭
*Fanfare noises* The next chap of AHE is up now on AO3! I ended up writing a lot so this isn’t the last chapter, that will be the next one, but this one has some plot I had a lot of fun writing in it! I hope you enjoy!
synopsis : lipstick polychrome headcanon series- Bennett version
cw : none, just fluff :)
genre: fluff♡
>> Words count: 408, these are short scenarios
>> a/n: this is my first headcanon series work so be indulgent please ^^ hope you will like it!
Bennett and you were coming back to Mondstadt after finishing your four daily commissions:
“I’m sorry you lost it y/n, I promise I’ll search for it” said Bennett half sobbing
“Haha! No need Benny, really, it’s not that important and I can craft a new one anyway!”
“If you say so…I’m still very sorry” apologized the white-haired boy.
The two of you had to clear a Hilichurl camp but after struggling to destroy the roadblocks, a Pyro Mitachurl chased you. In your escape you lost a hairclip made of Dandelion that you crafted the previous day. Unfortunately, you realized it too late, already at Mondstadt entrance when you wanted to do your hair.
After a quick check-up with Barbara for any wounds, Bennett and you made your way to Katheryne’s to claim your rewards:
“Ad astra abyssosque! Thank you for completing today’s commissions. Bennett, y/n, here are your rewards. Also, Bennett, come here for a second please.”
You turned away to store them in your inventory. With a few more moras you will be able to buy a new weapon for a proper defense
-apart, Katheryne to Bennett-
“So I heard y/n lost their hairclip earlier, don’t ask me how, I have my sources, also someone dropped some Windwheel Aster in the morning. So here, take this, I crafted it quickly. And don’t forget to thanks Fischl later!” Katheryne whispered to Bennett
“Incredible, it’s perfect! Thank you Katheryne! But why Fischl?”
“Nothing, nothing, come on, go back with them!”
-back-
You reported back your attention on the young adventurer and Bennett turned with a bright face:
“Y/n! I have a gift for you!! Give me your hand!”
Bennett took your right hand and put something inside:
“Please, take a look!” He said, excited.
You opened your hand intrigued, then you saw a pretty hairclip made of Windwheel Aster:
“Lord Barsibatoes (Venti would have throw you of a cliff if he heard you), Benny, how did you got it?!”
“Well, this is a secret” he turned to Katheryne with a smile, “but I hope you like it!”
“It’s superb, thank you so much Benny, I love it, really!”
You leaned to give a kiss on his cheeks but Bennett suddenly turned back to you and you ended up kissing him on the lips. Both of your faces went bright red, your eyes widening. Bennett had now a trace of vermillion lipstick on his mouth:
Synopsis: It's been way too long since your boyfriend last saw you and he's so unbelievably happy you're back. (Just a beautifully fluffy established relationship)
Disclaimer: In Bennett's you are the traveler
Characters: Bennett, Chongyun, Razor and Scaramouche.
Yun Yun (Chongyun)
It'd only been a month since you'd left.
Your work had led you to Fontaine and while you received letter after letter with little trinkets and information detailing even the smallest things regarding Chongyun's day to day it wasn't nearly the same. So when you could finally return to Liyue it was unsurprising that the first thing you set out to do was find Chongyun.
Well, after you'd dropped your belongings off of course.
You hadn't told him you'd be coming home a day early. Opting to surprise him instead. But a less than fruitful search after an hour made you regret it a bit. You'd checked all his usual hangouts as well, Wanmin restaurant, his house, even Xingqiu's workplace but even Xingqiu was out. However upon your exit you did happen to stumble into him. Quite literally as you slammed right into Xingqiu, the pile of books he'd been carrying scattering all around the two of you.
"Uh.. sorry." You both apologized in unison.
"Hey, you have perfect timing Xingqiu, I was just looking for you." You explain as you help him retrieve his scattered items.
"Oh? Well, how can I be of service my liege?"
"Well for starters, sorry about your books." You hand them over with a sheepish grin. "I should've been looking where I was going."
"Don't mention it. I was a bit rattled at first to be truthful but seeing that it was you I bumped into makes me feel a bit better." Xingqiu says with a smile. "Chongyun hasn't stopped bringing up your name in conversation since you departed."
You feel warmth rush to your cheeks and you quickly chuckle rubbing the back of your head. "Ah..ha."
Your sudden embarrassment immediately makes him snicker, a sly smile forming on his lips, "I'm fairly use to it by now." He shifts his hands so that he can pat away any dirt that might have accumulated on his clothes when he fell. "If you're searching for him, he should be meditating on Wuwang hill."
You breathe a sigh of relief, "Thank you Xingqiu." You began to walk away but turn in your stride to call out. "I'll come over later to show you the pics from Fontaine!"
He waves to you before replying, "Please do!"
Sure enough Xingqiu had been right on the nose about Chongyun. You walked up to his usual spot to find him perched on a rock and for the briefest moment you ponder why you didn't think to come here yourself. Your immediate thought was to make your presence known so that you wouldn't scare him but he looked so tranquil you opted to watch him for a couple minutes. That is until your decision to inch a little closer snapped a twig beneath your feet.
Too late to inform him of your arrival because the sound snapped his attention instantly, "N-Name!" And in his struggle to get off the rock he slipped backwards onto moist grass slamming his head in the process.
"Yun!" You called as you ran to his side. He groaned but from what you could see as you pulled his body towards yours he wasn't injured too badly. "I'm so sorry, I wanted to surprise you." You admitted
"I didn't mean to fall, but you're back. I'm glad you're back, I can't believe you're here early." He panted, pressing a hand to his stomach.
"Your face looks a bit red, honey." You reach around to his pocket where you know he keeps his popsicles pressing one to his lips and he happily opens his mouth for it. Without any further prompting he slips his arms around your neck mumbling out some words that were nearly inaudible with the popsicle still between his lips. When he leans back you slide a single finger beneath his bangs.
"Aw I wasn't gone that long and you had Xingqiu and Xingling." He bit into the popsicle, face growing a soft shade of pink as he mumbled out more words that you were surprised you understood. When you leaned in he flinched for the briefest moment but ultimately let himself be kissed on the cheek. "Well now that I'm back I can tell you everything that happened. I'll stay with you for the rest of the day."
As he finished his popsicle you hear the smallest whisper of his cool breath, "I'd like that."
Scaramouche Scarmouche maybe he'll do the fandango
You didn't exactly expect much when you'd left for this mission and you hadn't gotten anything either. That's how Scaramouche normally was when you left for missions. He'd, "See you when you got back." But the nights before he'd hold you a little tighter, rub deep circles into your back and kiss your temples and cheeks. Like you were the most fragile thing he'd ever held.
By the time you'd arrived back at headquarters he wasn't even there. So after your report you retreated to his room eager for even the smallest amount of rest. You could've sworn your eyes stayed shut for only a few minutes but when you awoke the room was illuminated only by a couple small lamps in the corner.
You shifted your gaze to the figure at the desk, an unmistakable smile curving over your face. He immediately looked up from the papers scattered across the frame, standing from his seat to approach you on the couch.
"Was starting to think you'd finally kicked the bucket." He greeted with the softest sigh. His knees sliding against the floor. Hand reaching out to cup your cheek.
"You would've cried so loud if I did." You reply, leaning into his palm.
"You went to sleep without a blanket over you. Dumbass, my room is colder than every other room in this building."
"Mm sorry. I thought I could sleep for just a couple minutes." You mumbled shutting your eyes and curling further into the blanket that was draped over your body. "Come lay with me." You say without opening your eyes.
"I'm busy."
"Please." You drone, reaching out for his wrist. "We've been apart for weeks." You groan.
With a small huff he flips the blanket off you before sliding into place by your side. "Thank you." You whisper, closing the distance as much as possible between the two of you. He merely grumbles into your shoulder blade but you immediately feel the weight of his hands on your back. Rubbing tiny circles into your spine. His favorite place finally returned.
Benny Bouken (Bennett)
News traveled fast whenever the hero of Mondstat re-entered the city. So as much as you wanted it to be a surprise that you were back you were also fully prepared for Bennett to know long before you ever made it to him. You did your catching up with some of Mondstat's locals just indulging them in conversation when you happened to walk by and they saw you. Up until you'd finally made your way to the cathedral where you knew Benny normally was.
As per usual there sat your boyfriend being carefully tended to by Barbara and as subtle as you wanted to be it wasn't long before Barbara spotted you waving and calling your name. Bennett nearly jumping from his seat the second he saw your face.
"You're back! Ah I missed you so much!" He squirmed, almost instantly regretting it based on the wince he let out.
"What happened to you this time?" You lowered yourself onto your knees, cupping the skin around a thick bruise on his leg.
"He told me he'd been attacked by some teleporting wolves in Wolvendom? They backed him off a cliff and he rolled down into a ditch." Barbara explained
"Rifthounds?" You reply, eyebrows creasing.
"Yes! I knew you'd remember them from our adventures."
"Are other adventurers aware of these creatures?" Barbara asks
"I'm not sure, I wanted to talk to Katheryne about it but I got escorted to the cathedral by Cyrus as soon as he saw me enter the city." Bennett admits
You press a small kiss to Bennett's cheek standing at his side, "I'll head to her and warn her."
Bennett groaned, "We've only been back together for a couple seconds and you're already off again running errands for me. I'm sorry, I promise I'll make it up to you."
"Just relax and heal up. I'm not upset, after all this is what adventurers do." You say "I promise I'll be right back." You rub his sides careful not to disturb any of his injuries.
"You're the best. I don't know how I got so lucky." He sighs softly as you move a hand up to ruffle his hair.
"He should be feeling strong enough to stand by the time you get back." Barbara interjects. You nod and afterwards quickly take your leave.
Razor
Since Razor didn't like crowds or being in cities in general the two of you had split while you headed over to the Irodori festival in Inazuma. It was only for about three weeks but you felt yourself missing your boyfriend more and more as time dwindled on.
He'd only sent you one letter in the time you'd been there but by the time you'd finally received it, it was the day before you were to head back home to Mondstat. The only reason they'd held it so long was probably because it had three pounds of raw meat in it. And reading it after the juices from the meat had soaked onto the paper made it more of a hassle than it should have been but overall you were just glad to be leaving as terrible as that may have sounded.
It'd be pretty hard to surprise your boyfriend and you knew that even before you'd walked halfway through Wolvendom. The whispers of howls around you making your heartbeat race in the best way possible.
"Lupical!" You heard the soft call soon followed by footsteps you recognized immediately. "Lupical!" The call grew louder.
You smiled so brightly dropping your bags as Razor came barreling into you. Nearly knocking you off your feet but you wrapped your arms around his waist steading the two of you with a laugh. "Seems everyone missed me a lot."
"Pack missed you and Razor too." He proclaimed giving your neck a fond lick.
"I missed everyone too." You replied
"Letter! Razor's letter did Name get it?"
"Sorry Sweetie, I didn't get it until the last day I was there. Otherwise I would've sent you one back." You remark, cupping his face with both of your free hands.
Razor nodded understanding, "Come Lupical prepare food for your arrival and.. I want to listen to Name's stories about trip."
You reach out for his hand, squeezing his fingers in your grip. "I'll tell you everything."

"Hey, hey! Have you heard?" Rumors spread like a disease around school. Bennett was unfortunate enough to be the subject of more than half of them. Half of which were about his accidents in school, and the other half were about his admriations.
"Psst! Psst!" A voice called out to Y/N.
"What is it?" They replied.
"Did you hear? Bennett has a crush on you!" Hu Tao said.
"M-me?" They asked, clearly shocked. "What's to like about me? I-I'm-"
"You're cute! You're kind! You have a lot people could like about you." Hu Tao exclaimed, and Y/N just turned away in embarrasment. Bennett could hear many 'Have you heard's and felt many eyes on him. If his luck were better, maybe this would lessen.
"Bennett! Razor looking for you." Razor said, half shouting.
"Huh?" Bennett said, rushing to Razor.
"People saying.. You like a Y/N!" Razor said.
"Huh? How did they know?" Bennett wondered. He didn't share it, but was it obvious enough?
"Razor... Doesn't know too." Razor said.
Bennett sighed. "It always happens.."
Razor looked at his friend in concern.
"I know! We go have lunch together! Put mind off talk of you!" Razor shouted in excitement.
"One has heard of the loud speech an acquaintance has spoken with, may you be to enlighten me about the reason for commotion?" Fischl said, crossing her arms.
"Rumor spread about who I have a crush on..." Bennett said, sighing.
"Razor is trying to make Bennett happy!" Razor explained.
"One has been informed properly. May not the spread of word make thou saddened." Fischl paused, clearly trying to think of something. "If one wishes for my presence in the meal of noon, I will do as you wish."
"Oh.. Thanks, both of you." Bennett said, slightly cheering up.
Maybe the rumors of today won't be bothering him for long anymore.
It was lunch time. The three had sat at a table happily, fortunately enough, Bennett was early enough to get a lunch which suffices his hunger.
"Hm, it seems as though Y/N has not a table to sit at." Fischl said.
"But aren't they friends with Hu Tao?" Bennett asked. "I'm sure she would save a spot for them."
"Hu Tao table.. full." Razor said.
"It makes sense, knowing Hu Tao is that friendly." Fischl said, cleared her throat and continued. "A chance has presented itself upon thou. If not timid enough, why not invite Y/N over?"
"I don't know if they'll even agree.." Bennett said dejectedly. "The rumor has spread enough, I'm sure they will decline.."
"Y/N!" Razor called.
Bennett looked at Razor in confusion. Why would he do that for him? Clearly they would decline.
"Huh? Oh, Razor!" Y/N said, waving their hand and going to their table.
"Do you want.. eat lunch with us?" Razor asked.
"Sure, Hu Tao didn't have enough space for me anymore.." Y/N said , scratching their cheek. It was just now that Y/N noticed Bennett sitting at the table. Clearly trying to hide himself from embarrassment.
"One has knowledge that you have been informed about the matter." Fischl said, noticing you look at Bennett. "If thou isn't interested-"
"N-no.. I- Well.." Y/N scratched the back of their neck. "I do have.. an interest to him..."
"W-what?!" Bennett shouted, as red as Diluc's hair. "Y-you do???? I-I.."
Bennett was so surprised that he couldn't speak. Razor and Fischl was just glad that their friend was able to find fortune despite his misfortune.
✤ — Universe: Tyranny
✤ — Concept: Going to a public event in the stead of the Duke
✤ — Characters: Bennett, Zhongli, Kazuha (mentioned)
A/N: Extra long (it'slong-) because this is a little special!
The Fourth District.
One of the places struck most with poverty. Consequently, one you decided to put time into getting rid of the weeds to separate the bad from the good.
It had been bloody but rewarding.
In the first few months of your reign, you strolled down the streets with your servant, hunting those who have indirectly supported the death of your siblings.
Now, the place is as pretty as the rest of the known and wealthy districts.
The impoverished have decreased considerably, you note after drawing the curtains in the moving carriage. The projects yielded good fruit.
“It is a surprise that you've decided to come of your accord,” the low voice is surprising in the slightest, but you show no outward reactions, “In the stead of the Duke, as well.”
You aren't expecting him to speak up at all.
“Can I not venture past the walls of my own palace?” your response is blunt and disinterested, “This was unanticipated, though. I only found out after I caught him trying to move out of bed so he can attend this himself.”
“It is the official opening of one of the orphanages the Duke has founded, after all. The occasion requires his plenary attendance.”
Much less to carry on a conversation.
This frankly has to be the first complete exchange you've had with him after his return from that expedition.
But time has estranged a previously solid bond, and the path of his choosing further created an uncrossable rift.
“.. Though I suppose her Majesty will do just fine, as well.”
Leaning back onto the cushion of your seat, you fold your arms, allowing a fleeting second to indulge yourself with the sight of your current companion, Justiciar Lapis.
Zhongli's eyes clutch onto blankness—or perhaps he's simply gotten good at hiding whatever emotions he's harboring at present.
Tearing yourself away, you do not respond any longer, wishing for something else to occupy the silence. The atmosphere isn't tense as you initially thought it'd be... and you don't know what to make out with that fact.
Thankfully, the carriage arrives at an abrupt stop, its slight impetus inching you closer to the edge of your seat.
You catch yourself with grace before you can topple, only freezing upon seeing paused hands in midair—as if they were just about to catch you.
The Justiciar withdraws in a beat, the look on his face passive as if he had done nothing. Which, in a way, is true, though that does not erase his attempt to be a gentleman, still.
Hah, you click your tongue. Perhaps some things do not change.
Or perhaps he has accidentally fooled himself into thinking that he's helping the same helpless demoiselle you once were.
Before any sort of utterance can resurface, the gilded door to the carriage opens, introducing an already bowing woman.
You've seen her in an audience with the Duke, she must be in charge of the opening ceremony.
“Greetings, your-” she bursts into a shriek upon the realization that it is not the Duke who is stepping out of the vehicle, “Majesty!”
Was that out of fear or surprise? Oh, I do wonder.
Squire Rota appears to help you down from the carriage, introducing you to all that's present to hear. His gloved hand is comfortingly warm, you find yourself holding onto it a bit longer.
You can never exude such warmth from your palms.
The buoyancy falls flat.
Seeing everyone's gaping expressions to your arrival makes you sick with satisfaction. Ah, are they intimidated that much?
It isn't like you brought a sword or anything.
“I hope my presence doesn't dampen the atmosphere.”
Your words cleave through the tension, sounding light yet haunting.
“Of- of course not, my Queen...” the woman fixates her stare on the cobblestoned ground, fiddling with her pretty dress. Fitting for the grand opening.
You lick your lips. My, how tense they all are.
It is a good thing that Justiciar Lapis has come, then.
Having him step down to your side appears to smack immense relief on the people's faces. Their contrasting reactions almost make you laugh.
Complete opposites. Like black and white. Good and evil.
Oh well, no matter.
Squire Rota squeaks when you give his fingers a tiny squeeze before letting go, his adorable reaction quirking your lips upward.
The sight of the red ribbon and the gold scissors at a nearby table reminds you of the sole reason why you're here in the first place.
The wooden plaque at the building reads, 'orphanage'.
At the corner of your eyes, there are children frolicking about, oblivious to your arrival. Not like that is a concern to raise.
They must be excited. For obvious reasons.
They are orphans, after all.
You clap your hands, receiving everyone's attention, “Gather the commonfolk, then. We'll proceed without delay.”
Thankfully, the opening ceremony goes by without any problem. Some nobles have attended, but the audience is mostly comprised of the civilians in the fourth district.
You made sure to read out what Albedo planned to say from the paper he has written and pitched in your own words. Many will find it impossible for you to feel even the slightest merriment towards the opening of an orphanage, but that is fine.
There's no need to state your argument against those who stand their ground.
After touring the building—it's rather large, but such is to be expected—you and your companion are led to the parlor upon the striking of the clock at exactly three in the afternoon, where teas and snacks have been prepared.
Kazuha has outdone himself again by informing the workers. Perhaps you'll reward him later.
You watch the Justiciar drop a few sugar cubes in the teapot, busying himself with the serving as if it's second nature. There is no fault in that.
This has always been the same setting before you were Queen.
The wafting aroma of nostalgic osmanthus—his special brew—almost strays your mind from the question within. Why is he even here in the first place?
As if he can tell even with your blank visage, he answers, “I've always frequented orphanages in my time of leisure to accompany the children.”
Of course. You nearly laugh. What else does a man loved by the people do?
Once you have been poured your fill, you waste no time in sipping, quenching your thirst. Its mellow taste compliments the gentle proliferation of sweetness from the sugar.
A perfect blend for your taste.
Just right. Just perfect—as it used to be.
He has not lost his touch.
It's confusing actually—why he still goes his way to brew things to your preference and seeks to assist whenever possible... when his position in the Parliament openly goes to say his opposition against you.
Maybe he's doing it out of respect? The bare minimum?
Your mind does not allow you to think of any other grounds, the claws and whispers in your psyche drawing to argue that this is the only possible reason.
Nothing more, nothing less. You echo inside, ignoring the golden stare at your profile.
Tea time continues without a hitch, only the clink and clanks of the cups and plates being heard. At least, until you pick up on the sound of rushed footsteps and frantic calls.
“Ah- ah, wait, anywhere but there! That room is-!”
The doors to the parlor slam open and in comes a voice, beaming and bright.
“Big brother Albedo!”
Hm? That is not something you expected to hear.
Absolutely no one dares call him that.
Zhongli's frame forbids you from seeing past, so you're only granted with the knowledge of who has barged in when the voice draws closer...
... To reveal a little girl with blonde hair and pretty ruby eyes.
“Oh, he's not here? Ah, miss, do you know where the Duke might be?” she questions, tilting her head and swaying her body from side to side as she stops by the tea-table.
“M-miss!?” Bennett flies into a panic, “That's her Royal Majesty-! I'm sorry for intruding, my Queen, we'll get going right away!”
You cannot resist smiling. It isn't every day that someone mistakes you for a simple miss.
A notorious reputation follows you in a trail of thorns and blood, after all—you are famed for a reason.
But then again, this is a child.
Zhongli looks like he's a beat away from appeasing a situation that he fears may escalate, but you got to it first with a raise of your hand, holding the squire back from escorting the little girl outside.
Dawning horror has finally seemed to catch onto the child, her mistake coming alight. The way she trembles is reminiscent of you some years ago.
It's only when she has gotten closer to your beckoning hand do you answer her question, “He is currently ill and is recovering, hence why I came in his stead.”
“Mother's friend, Alice, has a daughter... I visit her whenever I can.”
Without a doubt, this is the girl Albedo has been visiting. She fits the details fed to you on almost a monthly basis.
“You must be Klee.”
Surprise blooms on the faces of the two men, not expecting the name to fly by your lips.
On the other hand, the little girl bounces back, revitalized without the fear.
“Yes! I'm sorry for not recognizing her Majesty...”
“That's quite alright,” taking a few sweets from the assorted tier of delicacies, you place a handful on an empty dessert plate before setting them in front of the still beaming child.
“Would you like some?”
“Can I really.. ?” whispers Klee, her voice tiny.
She immediately says her thanks when you answer with a nod, her sweet smile trouncing the desserts on your plate.
You think you can see why Albedo often does his best to visit this particular district.
Meanwhile, Bennett openly gapes at the scene he did not expect to witness. He hasn't ever seen the Queen look so, well, approachable, until now.
It's rather... misleading? Oh, but he can't really say for certain. It's not like he knows the royal very well.
He scratches his head, “Ah.. this.. turned out better than I thought it'd be.”
Zhongli gives him a pointed look, warning that the Queen may have overheard his slightly offensive comment, and the squire jumps.
“I- I mean no offense!”
