Some of you might remember a few months ago I tore my couch apart to try and repair it. Like I figured, particleboard doesn’t repair well and the leg failed again. Yay! Time to do what I do best, make shit work. 1. Find random blocks of left over wood in basement. In this case 2x4 remains I’ve used as hammer blocks. They looked close enough in length so I left them as is. 2. Screw them together for stability. I only used one 3” screw. 3. Find black material. Could have spray painted, but wanted them to look classy. I grabbed remains of a pair of jean shorts. I cut mine real short, so there was plenty of material. 4. Stuff the wood inside the pant leg. Fortunately Black is stretchy and I got a nice snug fit. Wrap the end like a present and screw it down with a 3/4” screw. 5. Trim pant leg to length and finish side two the same as side one. 6. Placed finished Block under couch corner. Use a rubber mallet to make the “fancy” leg look straight and make Instagram post. 7. Done. I think this will delay the need for a new couch for a while and look classy at the same time. Win. #repairdontreplace #thingsmendo #bensment (at Norwalk, Connecticut)
