When I moved I to my place 5 years ago I couldn’t use the front door. It was screwed shut and when screws were removed there was a sliding latch keeping it “locked.” For years I kept a table in front of it and had no access to the porch unless I walked around. Last year I removed my table and started using the door more often to hang on the porch or grab packages when we went into lockdown. Still unable to enter through the door and it not being very secure, I researched how to convert the door to a standard cylinder lock that I could key to match the other doors around the house. The upgrade went on the list and went ignored for the last 8 months. Finally something got into me yesterday and I dropped in on the upgrade. Fortunately the workshop had improved a lot over the summer and it ended up being a really fun project. I knocked out the handle, added a deadbolt and even revamped the basement door knob that worked, but was definitely a bit of a hatchet job. Now I can enter through any door to the outside using the same key keeping things easy. Here are some images of the before any after a and if you look at my story you can follow along with the process if you’re into that sort of thing. #diy #thingsmendo #lockdown #homerepair (at East Norwalk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CIcfRjqHYVk/?igshid=1cfge5dn5u6er
