“Really, Benjamin? Really?”
@bentallmxdge He'd known him, before he went and rebelled. A bright young man in Edmund's opinion, with a good head on his shoulders. At least for most things. When he found himself at a prisoner exchange and facing Ben Tallmadge he couldn't help the small smile he sent towards the rebel. Nor, apparently, the hand raised in a small wave.
"Don't baby talk him. It's bad for development." -bentallmxdge (hope this is ok!)

“Why shouldn’t I?” Mary pouted at Ben, “Thomas turned out just fine. I don’t see what the problem is. It’s not like he’ll be talking anytime soon anyway.” In her arms was a baby boy, swaddled in an off-white blanket and sporting a sleepy face. This was Mary’s second child, named Frederick, and only 6 months old.

“Now I’m in a tumescent state”
[Obscure reference time XD!]
“Well they have been out the whole time ...”

“No, not yet. I won’t deny you the privilege of stargazing. Even I’m not that cruel.” He moved to sit by her, awkwardly sitting on the ground beside her.
“H-how are you?”
How ... was she? Thera blinked at him like he’d spoken in tongues.
Tired, she wanted to say, fed up, sick of being a prisoner in an army supposedly fighting for freedom ... but instead she took a long breath and simply shrugged. “Honestly? A bit sick of all this.” A gesture took in the camp and its surrounds.
“But alright, I guess. How about you?”
[ @bentallmxdge from here.]
“That’s just bordering on cruel,” he mumbled. “Don’t be a tease if you don’t intend to follow through with whatever it was you were planning.”
“Tease?” Thera splayed a hand on her chest in disbelief, “Me? Well excuse me all to hell, Major Yes-No-Maybe.” It was almost ‘Major Blush-and-Shuffle’, but that might have been pushing a bit too far. Also she’d been planning to make him jump, and that had been accomplished; if he wanted anything more ...
“Why am I the one doing all the work?”

“Look, you wanted fresh clothes and you got fresh clothes,” he said through the laughter. “It’s not my fault Lieutenant Brewster is a much larger size than you.”
Ben paused to look at her again, before doubling over with laughter, tears coming to his eyes. “I’m sorry, I just can’t help it-” he was practically wheezing. “On the bright side, you do look…. cute.”
“Cute?” She gave up trying to be indignant and started giggling as well, lightly swatting him on the arm. “Well, that’s something, I suppose. Better than ‘Shakespeare comedy relief’.”
She sighed and turned up the jacket cuffs before they became too annoying, snickering again at the look and colour of Ben’s face. “Well, they’re warm, they’re dry and they don’t smell too badly. So thank you. And don’t hurt yourself there, will you?”
