personally, if I were the creator of a piece of media, I think it would be fucking awesome to see fictionfolk of it. Or, let's be a bit more realistic, if I were a fanartist and saw a fictionfolk of the piece of media I'm making art of, or even the character, reblog and compliment it/say it's accurate. Like, I'd feel so honored

Yes, I do preen. I love preening! It's just really annoying that some places are hard to reach, so sometimes I do have to ask other people to do it for me, which can become a little awkward.
