Christmas is the best time in New York City no questions about it. You are not alone. The city is your date. It’s emotional, but you can turn into jovial. Here are some of my suggestions for fun holiday activities, but feel free to pick up more memories as you explore your way through these events.

1. Ice skating in Bryant Park and checking out the Bank of America Winter Village

This year Bryant Park is a must go destination during the holidays. Not only is there free ice-skating on 17,000-square-foot outdoor rink, but also 128 holiday shops will offer a variety of holiday goodies including a bunch of new specialty eateries such as Vegushi for vegan sushi lovers and try out my own favorite childhood delicacy at the Chimney Cake shop.

When you done with Christmas shopping head to rink and burn of some calories doing lutzes and axels front of the vendors are only there until Jan 3, but the rink remains open until March 6 th , 2016.

2. Christmas concert at the Beacon theatre

Girls always want to have fun. Including during the holidays and no one sings better about it than Cyndi Lauper. This year’s line up also includes Boy George, Natasha Bedingfield, Judy Gold, Cam, Joey Taranto, Justin Tranter, and Richie Sambora among others. If you missed her show see Mariah Carey performing from December 8-18th. The concert takes place at the Beacon Theatre on December 5th.

3. Window displays on Bergdorf Goodman

It’s probably my favorite activity to do during the holiday season. To see the unbelievable breathtaking windows displays at Bergdorf. It gives me a fuzzy warm feeling inside and takes me to these mysterious places where I want to explore. From Gucci to Pucci this year’s theme called “Brilliant” #BGWindows showcase the best inspirational, fashion set against millions of Swarovski crystals.

Make sure you have a cup of tea with mini tea sandwiches at the famous Plaza Hotel next door too!

4. Radio Christmas Spectacular

It’s an essential activity each winter to see the Rockettes and relive your childhood memories at the fantastic Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

The choreography is slightly different, but new costumes designed each year.

If you love dancing like myself and want to dance with the Rockettes, they offer a three hour advanced class and after completion you can attend a mock audition for the Rockettes. You feel like you didn’t spend enough time with the glamourous looking dancers, purchase a VIP ticket where you can get a personal invitation for a pre-show party and the best seat at the house. Can this experience be more fabulous?

Enjoy this spectacular holiday extravaganza this year running from November 13, 2015 to January 3, 2016.

5. Holiday Under the Stars at the Shops at Columbus Circle

If you missed the famous tree lighting on December 2nd by Rockefeller Center just walk over to the west side by Columbus Circle and visit the “Holiday Under the Stars” at Time Warner Center. It features twelve 14-foot stars that hang from the ceiling of the 150-foot Great Room.

The stars are lit by the largest specialty crafted display of illuminated color mixing in the world. This must-see display is choreographed to festive tunes providing a holiday atmosphere unlike any other in New York.

This year the lighting will coincide with the unveiling of the Astolat Dollhouse Castle, designed by Elaine Diehl, a museum-quality miniature structure appraised as the most valuable dollhouse in the world.

6. Central Park

Do you like to sing? Have a big family? Or happened to be babysitting? Head to Central Park to see the Three Bears Holiday Bash with your kids. This fun holiday variety show celebrates the holiday season with a lot of songs, dancing and puppetry. Besides singing the 12 days of Christmas songs, the show draws stories from Hanukkah, The Night before Christmas and Kwanzaa.

Tickets are $7/ children and $10/adults From November 10- December 30.

7. George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker

NYC Ballet

Tchaikovsky’s iconic piece transports you to a world of wonder where mischievous mice are foiled by toy soldiers come to life, and a blizzard of ballerinas reveals the enchanting Land of Sweets. New Yorker calls it “The mother of all Nutcrackers”— this version that originated a beloved American tradition.

8. Christmas Lights Tour in Dyker Heights

If you didn’t get enough Christmas light displays in Manhattan, you need to go to Brooklyn, more specifically to Dyker Heights where thousands of people flock each year to see the most outrageous, over the top inflatable decorations animatronic toys and motorized displays. Tour length is appx. 3.5 hours.

9. Nostalgia Subway ride by MTA New York Transit Museum

Feeling nostalgic and in a holiday spirit? Hop on of one of vintage cars of MTA on every Sunday in the month of December. The first ride leaves at 10 am from 2nd Ave and goes to Queens. There is a little shop on the train where you can purchase all kinds of cool gifts.
