i 💗 🔒 // Freedom. Ironically lockdown has given us more freedom than we’ve ever had. When has it ever not been just accepted but encouraged to spend time at home? Looking after yourself, taking the time to recharge, regroup, just to think? When has it ever been accepted and encouraged to work from home? Certainly not in my lifetime until now. So many people see “lockdown” as negative but it’s not. It has opened a new way of life one that is much more humane and filled with more freedom that I imagine was envisioned when the internet and computers first were created. The idea of a digital nomad. The majority of industries can either have people working remotely or be automated. Shop work can be automated and pay subsidied. The idea that there is more to life than simply working and spending the rest of our limited existence only doing this. Personally the only negative is the city I live in, there is not enough space or at times privacy or adequate sound protection from people around me. Everything else I enjoy. Social pressure is removed, the need to feel as if we must always be busy has been removed. I get to be in my home, the space I have created through years of work with @russtjb. I get to spend time with people I have chosen to be a part of my life. I get to enjoy the space I call home. If all these things had come about when the technology was ready ie 10-15 years ago this virus would not have been a pandemic. We never needed a virus for humanity to realise we needed to take a step back and start behaving as humans rather than machines. To look at where we were headed as a species. The ability to work from home as and when needed has been something the world has been ready for and capable of doing for such a long time now. The fact that it took a virus for governments, companies and many people on a personal level to first understand this and only then implement this is insanity to me. Instead of a culture of shaming people for spending time at home, or simply even wanting to work at home the oppsite exists. We are humans, never cogs to keep corporate machines running. ___________________________ #lockdown #stayhomesavelives #maskup #beresponsibleforyouractions https://www.instagram.com/p/CLULOdehZqd/?igshid=4b8h4alaniq7
