Ok, I’m ready to see this show let’s gooooo 😭
Saw Galileo this past Saturday for my birthday. Second row. Can’t believe how close I was to Raul. The man is more gorgeous in person *sigh* 😍
What a joy to just see a snippet of someone and something so beautiful. I would like to see him on stage. Someday, my dream will come true. :)
First curtain call for Galileo 🔭 ✨

Suspenders, and what appears to be leather trousers AND boots in the first image? Oh, oh my 🥵

"Swept Away" at Berkeley Rep
Berkeley Rep is developing a reputation for premiering musicals that go on to much bigger things: American Idiot, Ain't Too Proud and Paradise Square.
I think they have another Broadway-bound show in the wondrous Swept Away. Featuring music by The Avett Brothers, and starring John Gallagher, Jr. (who also starred in American Idiot and Spring Awakening) with a book by John Logan (Red, Moulin Rouge: The Musical) and directed by Michael Mayer (American Idiot, Spring Awakening, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Swept Away takes you on a journey with two brothers on a whaling ship at the end of the 19th century, when whaling was a dying occupation.
The set alone is nearly worth the price of admission, and the story is a heart-wrenchingly beautiful one.
Read my full review at TalkinBroadway and get your tickets for this so you can say you saw it before it hit the Great White Way.
'[The American Idiot musical] doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s what I love about it. When people see it, it’s going to be my wildest dream.'
- Billie Joe Armstrong, 2009
The American Idiot musical was developed and opened at the Berkeley Rep's Roda Theatre. The premiere was on September 4, 2009. One of the theatre's promotional banners still boasts a photo of John Gallagher Jr., who played Johnny. Nearby is a sidewalk plaque celebrating Operation Ivy's Knowledge.
