Jesús hated to see Andrés paint. He hated to see him find any sort of enjoyment in his days, as it seemed. He had probably expected that if he locked Andrés up in a tower without anyone else, he would spend all his time crying and pitying himself.

Andrés couldn’t care less what Jesús wanted and what of it he got, but one thing was clear to him: He would never throw away his life like that. And there was no reason to, either.

If he was as powerful as Jesús said, as powerful as his mother had been, these doors could not hold him forever and once he’d walk out into the world, he would make every single person he’d encounter cower in fear. Everyone would know his name then, because everything would be his.
