#feastofourladyoflourdes #stbernadette #bernadettesoubirous Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, remembering the first day the Blessed Mother appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in 1858. The Blessed Mother instructed Bernadette to dig in the ground at their grotto and a water spring was found. People who drank or anointed themselves with the Lourdes water were cured of their afflictions and the grotto is visited by thousands of pilgrims each year to be cured. Stories abound of people being cured by the water. They used to have thousands of crutches hanging all over the grotto from cripples that were cured. This is one of the most documented cases of miracles and the most numerous. If you ever get to go to the south of France, you should visit this beautiful place. And, north of Lourdes, in the town of Nevers is where St. Bernadette Soubirous is laid to rest. St. Bernadette is what we know as an incorruptible, her body never decayed and withered like most people do. St. Bernadette rests in a glass coffin in Nevers and you can see her there.
