soulkin ponies!
earth pony magic manifests thru EMOTION. soulkin ponies' magic is tied to OTHERS' emotions; make another pony feel a way, it powers u up.
soulkin culture is big on the arts for this reason, as a way to evoke emotion while also giving back to the community and expressing urself.
twilight sparkle is a soulkin pony, tho due to her emotional instability and social isolation, the only emotion she knows how to use to invoke her magic is FEAR, so her and her ghost friends make a habit of trying to scare other ponies.
These two blind bags look real good together soooo they are obv gay (colors based on original blind bag portraits) Merry May 💚 Berry Green

Ch. 2 - Ocarina
“Give it back,” a purple pony growls from the shade of the Whitetail Woods, her face shrouded in darkness but her violet eyes piercing through and burning into your heart.
So what’re you gonna do, APPLEJACK?
You’re standing between the angry shrouded pony and another pony, a raspberry colored girl with short and bright blonde hair, who’s on the ground cowering behind you. You rushed into the fray with no real clue of what’s goin’ on here, but you think you’re startin’ to put the pieces together.
“Hey,” you say to the cowering pony, though careful not to let your eyes leave the potentially dangerous shrouded pony, “What’s yer name? You a scrapper?”
“U-uh, yeah, I am,” the pony blurts out. “And my name is Berry Green.”
“How long you been doin’ it?” you ask, getting to the bottom of this situation.
“Only a couple months,” she says, and you let out a knowing chuckle.
“Alright,” you mutter under your breath, before calling out to the purple pony. “Hey, what exactly are you wantin’ back?”
“This girl stole an ocarina,” the purple pony says sternly, “and I WILL have it back.”
“You know what ocarina she’s talkin’ about?” you ask Berry Green.
“I-I do,” Berry Green brings an old, beat up ocarina out of her saddle bags. “It looks all broken up, but I could tell there was some latent magic in it, so I took it. Scrap scavenging is all about first come first serve, r-right?”
“With PONIES that’s right,” you chuckle and shake your head, “but you always gotta be careful not to take somethin’ that belongs to the spirits.
“Hey,” you address the shrouded pony again, her eyes locked like a machine onto the ocarina in Berry Green’s hoof, “if we give this thing back, will you leave us be? Let bygones be bygones and stuff?”
The purple pony’s eyes flit back and forth, like she’s reading an invisible book or addressing an invisible audience. The latter might honestly be the case, if she’s here to collect the ocarina on behalf of the spirits.
She finally looks dead straight at you before speaking again.
“Yes, that is fine,” she says. “Give us the ocarina, we’ll leave. Simple as that.”
You don’t even wait for Berry Green’s confirmation before snatching the ocarina out of her hoof, trotting toward the edge of the woods so you can hand over the instrument personally to the purple pony, rather than tossing it and risk breaking the obviously old and weary looking instrument.
You outstretch your hoof to the pony and the ocarina disappears from your grip, as if swiped by an invisible hand, which basically confirms your theory about the spirits.
“I apologize for upsetting your friends,” you say humbly, bowing your head to the purple pony and whatever spectral pals she has in the wings.
“Finally, a pony who’s somewhat rational,” the purple one says amusedly.
“I’ve been doin’ this a long time,” you chuckle, “and you don’t get to live long enough to be as experienced as I am without learning to respect the spirits and their attachments.”
“I WISH that were true,” the purple one rolls her eyes and scoffs.
“Besides,” you say with a shrug, “stealin’ ain’t right.”
“Hm, indeed,” the purple one cracks a slight smirk, before disappearing back into the woods without another word.
With the deed done, you return to the scrap meet. Berry Green approaches you and mutters.
“I’m s-sorry, I—“
“No worries,” you smile and give her shoulder a playful tap. “No harm done. Just keep this kinda thing in mind goin’ forward, okay? If you’re gonna venture into the home of the spirits, which you GOTTA do if you wanna get the good stuff from Old Equestria, you gotta be mindful of what belongs to someone and isn’t up for grabs. It’s a learnin’ curve, but as long as you’re willing to keep an open mind, you’ll figure it out.”
“Thank you, I really appreciate that,” Berry Green bows her head. “I’m really trying my best.”
“Ain’t we all,” you say with a chuckle, which the other pony echoes.
“Berry Green!” a pale blue pony dressed in a dandy red scarf gallops up and embraces Berry Green. “There you are! I was worried sick!”
“S-sorry, Sweetie Blue,” Berry Green says, her face turning bright red. “I wanted to collect some more scrap, cuz we barely had any to work with, and I—“
“And you thought going off all on your own was a good idea?!” Sweetie Blue snaps. “Geez, you’re gonna give me a heart attack! If something happened to you, I—“
“I know,” Berry Green says, tears forming in her eyes, “I just—“
“Here,” you plop one of your saddlebags on the ground, one full of the rare scrap you were planning on trading for info about the apples, but helping out ponies who’re right in front of you is more important than chasing tall tales. “I got loads extra, take this stuff and do whatever you gotta do.”
“WH—UHHH,” Sweetie Blue exclaims in flabbergasted awe as she opens the bag and sees it full to bursting with scrap. “We can’t just TAKE this, that wouldn’t be—“
“Well I’m leavin’ it here,” you shrug and start walking off, “so if you don’t want it, leave it for somepony else.”
“Thank you,” Berry Green whispers as you pass by her, and you just nod in response and keep walking, back to a very bemused looking Sweetcream Scoops.
“You’re really something, you know that?” Sweetcream says with an exasperated sigh. You figure she doesn’t mean that in an especially positive way right at the moment.
“Relax, I still got enough to trade for everything we need to bring back home,” you say confidently.
“And the Apple info you were looking for?” Sweetcream raises a single eyebrow. You look at her, then look back at Berry Green and Sweetie Blue, the latter carrying your saddlebag while the other chatters at her with a grand smile on her face, tears streaking her cheeks.
“Somethin’ more important came up,” you shrug. “I’ll get ‘em next time.”

I love to draw my toys and have a ton of these blind bag figures, some of which are ponies that only appeared in the bags! So instead of Berry just being an Applejack recolour, I decided to change her hair up to make her her own!
