(Small editor note: The more I draw Strawberry the more I adore her as her original design is so charming it transcends styles, she’s so fun to draw.)
Now here’s the nitty gritty where I explain a lot of the story and motif reasons of why I designed Leaf, both from the games’ stories and my own personal analysis of its themes, with pictures of course!
A main tree I specifically took inspiration for Leaf’s design as there are many different trees with a lots of unique leaves to choose from, was Elder trees.
another fun thing to associate with Leaf’s character was make to their animal symbolism a snake to compliment and contrast their best friend strawberry and her strawbunnies.

Hell yeah, Berrywitched the harvest is out! Just finished it and man, was it so fascinated as it was heart felt and heartbreaking. Had get these two out of my head so I channeled my feelings into these quick lil drawings to celebrate the game’s release. Miss strawberry you deserved the world and more for all you’ve been through, you enjoy hanging out with your bestie.

Goddamn that line delivery in the bunker scene broke my heart, it was such a simple sentence but the way Strawberry’s VA said with such grief and longing really encapsulated how much her human companion meant to her that I started to missed them too damn, despite knowing little to nothing about the human PC of the previous game. Except the new info that they swear, because honestly that was pretty funny in hindsight and was very sweet that strawberry still remember their lil quirks despite the amount of time that passed for her. I still remember in the first game that the PC was very sure that nobody would notice their absence or even bother going looking for them. But now we get to see the aftermath of their absence through Strawberry as someone who cared about them deeply not just as a fellow living thing but as a deep bonded friend, and that’s really beautiful in a sad way. Anyways enough rambling, I hope you enjoyed the art!
