(Part 1) May I add something about that "being in your 20s but not having presented yet"-trope? I totally agree that it doesn't make perfect sense, but I think the issue lies with the sexy times, lol. With this trope you have two options: either you take the creative freedom to ignore the connection between puberty and presenting and have them hit puberty during their teens, but present at 20-something and then the sexy times ensue, or you stick with logic, meaning they hit puberty/present

Totally get what you're saying! I said puberty starts at twelve and presenting happens around 16 but I also said when presenting it's heat minus sexy times.

The waiting till 20s part was never the problem with me. It was the "you didn't present, you must be beta." Like, what? Betas present same as Alphas and Omegas. Sure they don't go through heats but whateves, you know?

I won’t be able to commemorate tomorrow, so have this today. I know we sometimes seem to favour Alphas and Omegas over Betas, but what would we be without you? A mess ofc... more than the one we already are. 

So here are some cute headcanons to cheer ya’ll up today. 

• Beta lovers are the crafitiest. They make presents better than Omegas and Alphas. Courting isn’t much of a process traditionally partaken by Betas, but it doesn’t really make much of a difference, cause if a Beta is interested in you chances are you’ll end up with at least five different bracelets, three scarves and an impressive assortment of hand-made scented candles. All in the spam of two months. 

• Betas don’t make Dens like Alphas or nests like Omegas. But they are very good home-makers as well as decorators. Alphas and Omegas might be reluctant to step out of familiarity or routine very often, but Betas are the ones you’ll see doing stuff like Feng Shui and collecting random rocks outside because “it’d look nice close to that other thing they have in that one spot no one really pays much attention to begin with”. But I guess it depends on your definition of “good decorator” because sometimes there’s too many elephants with their tails turned to the south in a single coffee table. 

• Jewery for many centuries was a Omega-exclusive item of possession. Only for female Omegas and only for the wealthy. Wealthy Betas while having the currency to buy those were either prohibited by law or culturally chastised to not have them. The exception to the rule were “symbols of faith”, like crufixes. So a type of specialized crafting started to be developted by Betas that still wanted to have or gift Beta lovers with something like that. It was commonly known as a “hidden love” piece. Something like pendant, ring or bracelet that was disguised in the outside like a common and plain religious item, but were really intricate little puzzles that only the holder would know how to unlock, and once solved it’d open up to an interior with intricate mosaics made of precious stones, pearls and messeges. It was an item popular from the 16th century all the way until the mid Edawardian Era. After that jewelry was popularized to all Dynamics so it fell in disuse. 

• A “Minty mind” is a term used to refer to any person of any dynamics in modern times, but it was a term that originated from describing Betas. Betas were commonly found in agricultural labour all throughout the world, both because of their massive numbers and because Alphas and Omegas in power thought “it suited them better”. Because of that Beta scents, already fainter in nature were even more difficult to discern because of their work in the fields, it was common to refer to Beta scents as "lemon grass", "lavander" or obviously "mint", even if that wasn't their real scent. The idea just got more reinforced with the predominance of Beta scholars in the field of Botanics. To say someone had a "minty mind" meant they were either dumb like a peasant in the case of the first, or smart and inventive like a Beta scholar in the case of the latter. Thankfully the latter stuck for modern times.

• When we talk about physical characteristics of the dynamics there isn’t much we can say past vast generalizations, however Betas have a funny fact about them. The colour green has been associated with the dynamics as long as people can remember and part of that is because of the odd phenomenon that is their eye colour. It’s estimated that 30 to almost 50% of the Beta population has some variation of green eyes. There is no definite reason as to why, the better explanation so far is a hypothesis that suggests the Beta gene seems to show a preference to the green allele. If there is a possibility of the embryo presenting green eyes, the Beta allele seems to enable that characteristic inspite of probability. The Beta gene simply seems to show an affinity for the colour. No one knows why exactly that is, it shows no actual advantage for the Betas, it’s merely aethetics, but it seems to just... keep happening. 

I tried comming up with some cool or different stuff this time around, I may not have succeeded as expected, but I hope to have made all you lovely Betas feel special and loved as you are surely are. So keep proud and keep on being great Betas. Until next year and happy Beta day.
