As for coming up with aus, honestly it’s me looking changing one aspect of a verse, and seeing what kind of effects it has on the rest of the plot and the characters and stuff.
Like, I know what I like to see in a fandom, what kind of character and relationship dynamics I like and etc. And then I think, okay, what do I have to change to make it work out like this? It’s almost like a puzzle, you know?
I’ve always said that one of my absolute favourite things about the Earth girl trilogy is Beta Sector. It just has such a rich and vibrant culture, and I really love that they’ve built their society around family and mutual support and respect. I absolutely love their clan system, and I love that triad marriages are common, I love that it has no nudity taboo. Like, that is the future I want, you know?
Seeing Jarra connect with her family throughout the series, and seeing her discovering her roots is just so special, and it really fascinated me to think just how much things would have changed if she had ended up at University Zeus or University Artemis, you know? We could have been exposed to so much more of the true Beta Sector beyond the stereotypes that the other sectors have about them. Like I loved learning about the military clans, but what’s it like for other clans?
Beta Sector was at the heart of the revolution in the third book, so how would the atmosphere have been when Dalmora showed her father’s video about the tragedy on Artemis and the class was mostly Betan? How would the class have reacted to Jarra’s presentation and betrothal ceremony being interrupted by outlanders? There’s just so much potential, you know?
And as for headcanons, I don’t have any in mind atm. Is there anything in particular that you wanted to know about, nonny?
