My personal theory about the betazoids now is that the psionic wall and Betazed being secluded from the burn have lead to changes to the betazoids.

Maybe even the aftermath of the Dominion war left the race decimated and trying to bring up their numbers by expanding with other races since have reduced them to mostly empathic and rarer people like Tarima having full abilities and having to use a power limiter for no other reason that there aren't as many full power betazoids that would regularly train their children to use their abilities from birth.

*Star Trek Thoughts*

Hey, so I’ve been watching and rewatching a massive amount of Strange New Worlds and Next Generation, and I’ve seen posts about Vulcans (headcannons or otherwise). How they evolved from felines, have a naturally green tint, etc., but lately? I’ve been thinking about Betazoids. There’s hardly any content and they’re cool af!

Telepaths with widely varying levels of skill. Some can barely pick up emotion while others and alter other people’s memories/emotions? Others can kill and there’re even some so powerful they develop telekinetic abilities? And every single one of them only get more powerful with age…?

(Not to mention the women go through a midlife change where their sex-drive quadruples or more? What’re the ramifications around sex? Do they have an ace community and are they effected? Do they just become more obsessed with their special interests? I need so much context)

But my main thought? Is about their eyes. Big, pitch black irises, like a deer. The first Humans to meet them must’ve been so freaked out. That uncanny valley feeling being set off whenever they’re around, because no matter what they do? In the human mind? Eyes just aren’t supposed to look like that.

And what if it was just a little bit worse? You start getting over the whole eyes thing, cause you made a friend at Starfleet Academy (maybe you had a group project and you kicked ass together) but you were too nervous to make nice until you get your grade back? They smile? And they just have the most vampire-like teeth you’ve ever seen. Not like Nosferatu needle teeth, but practical canines for biting through flesh and suddenly? The uncanny valley feeling comes right back and their smile drops, because they can read your mind. Feel your fear, even without having to push their way into your head.

That would he truly unsettling…

Betazed Fashion Headcanon (AU)

Betazed is such a beauty do and vibrant planet that Betazoid feel as of they shouldn’t compete against nature and its beauty and be respectful to its beauty.

They have simple silhouettes and don’t have any created patters or pleating or any manipulation of the favoring. The women’s wardrobe resembles medical tunics and loose bottoms pants and the women in simple but faltering dresses that are sometimes wrapped or have pieces to be wrapped around.

The simplicity even highlights the beauty of the Betazoids even more.
