Whats the problem with that account sharing your stuff. It just means more people get to see it, and its almost the msp anyway. Hope that didnt sound rude :)
Well, first of all, of what I saw that was mine— it wasn’t even a theory of mine that they used. It was MY IDEAS and MY OBSERVATIONS about what Beth Greene meant to Daryl Dixon and why it wasn’t ok for the writers to take her away from him the way that they did. It wasn’t even promoting a theory or getting other people to believe Beth is coming back— it was actually stealing MY THOUGHTS on a subject and claiming them as her own. That’s like stealing someone’s essay for class homework, not ‘promoting’ theories.
Secondly— Yeah. I want people to know. I want people to be interested in the plausibility of her coming back. But the people who wrote these theories deserve to have credit for them. Do you know how much time some meta can take? The very first meta post that I posted to this website took me five days. FIVE DAYS. That was five days of me sleeping a little, eating a little, and re-watching whole seasons, editing my paragraphs, and A LOT of notes. Hours and hours of work that developed into over 20,000 words. That’s equivalent to the amount of words/work that goes in fanfic. If this IG was posting other people’s fanfics, would you still support that? Would you still think it was harmless? I hope not.
My friends and I are sharing our ideas because we want people to see our points of view, and this person is not crediting our ideas. This person is not engaging with us in a trustworthy way, or any way that shows respect.
It’s theft of intellectual property, it’s deceitful, it steers away people from the ACTUAL MINDS behind the words, and it’s just morally reprehensible. I’m not going to ignore it or excuse it because it ‘furthers the cause,’ and neither should you. It’s REALLY EASY to say “hey, these aren’t my words, these are aeroknot's” or whoever else's, and link to the person's tumblr page or the actual post. It's incredibly easy. It would take less time than it must take them to screencap it and collage the words onto random photos to copy+paste the link to the source.
Also, this person has been nothing but immature since I’ve contacted her. She blocked me, then posted a passive-agressive ‘apology,’ which was really just her trying to shame me for not “being grateful” that she’s sharing our ideas to a wider fanbase. Um. I have a LOT of followers, and the ability to REBLOG my posts exposes them to A LOT MORE. I’m not worried about people seeing my ideas. But now, sadly, I have to worry about WHO sees them.
As Beth would say, “It does matter” and “It’s not okay.”
