um not necessarily? if she was alive after suffering a traumatic brain injury I’m sure she’d need assistance (certainly medical– and I’d assume it would come from grady staff, since a lot of theorizers believe that’s where she’d wake up / where “her body” was abandoned) for a while at the beginning while she heals, probably physical therapy among other things, but storytelling-wise, it probably doesn’t make sense to bring her back if she did have to “rely on others to help her do anything” for the rest of the story simply on the basis that it is a dangerous post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland setting we’re dealing with. I want to emphatically state I’m not trying to imply or endorse any notion that disabled people / people who need more involved assistance don’t deserve representation or a presence in stories / aren’t worthwhile, or that TWD writers at all handled that concept well (or even touched on it, really), nor am I claiming that she suddenly wouldn’t be a worthwhile character if that development became her newest major plotline – in fact her story has always kind of involved a little bit of grappling with society’s perception of “weakness” or “uselessness” (haters’ accusations, not my appraisal of her) given her survival skills and her mental illness, though it hasn’t touched physical/intellectual/developmental disability, yet, if that’s what you’re getting at. they could probably make some interesting and progressive statements about ableism and “survival of the fittest” ideology that I see (/now side-eye) people arguing the show haphazardly attempts to tackle if they had a character who couldn’t be so independent, like a disabled-post-brain-injury beth… but I don’t think they’re that kind of show, anymore, truthfully. I don’t think that’s in their scope or range. I think if she came back, they’d gloss it over, like they’ve glossed over most other miraculous survivals, not because I condone that action, but because I don’t see them bringing her back in general, let alone bringing her back with such a statement or any sort of convictions about ableism. (disclaimer: I’m not physically disabled but my mother is, and I’m neurodivergent when it comes to mental illness, but not on an autism spectrum or marginalized for anything to do with intelligence, so please take my perspective on this with a grain of salt. I felt you were implying beth would be disabled or handicapped in some way, and tried to address that as sensitively and well-meaningly as I could. if someone has some concrit for my thoughts on this, please let me know.) 

so, yeah. they’d bring her back as a miracle, probably. & i think we’d get more explanations from interviews with staff than we would the actual visual story + scripted dialogue (though I guess that’s debatable, since characters have survived by the reliable methods of Luck when falling in a van off an interstate, Luck under a garbage bin, Luck with an epi-pen, etc., and no staff have seemed to address those further). and i mean, i don’t think they’re bringing her back and that’s hurt me deeply, so I haven’t really engaged with the how or why theories, so I’m sorry I don’t have much more to say. I know how I’d try to write it, probably, but that doesn’t mean that’s where I’d put my faith that they would write it. I stopped trying to predict their antics a long time ago.

so… – and I don’t mean to be overly dismissive or convey to you I’m not interested in talking to you – I’m just probably not the best person to be asking this. I defend people’s right to think there’s evidence she’ll come back, but I jumped ship a long time ago, even though I wasn’t really ever on board but rather just had my canoe tied to its stern. so I guess a more apt metaphor would be that I cut the rope. if you’re genuinely curious about people’s theories about this, I’d recommend scrolling @dynamicsymmetry ‘s TD/team defiance tags (here’s a good kind of master post). there was a nurse in the team defiance fandom who broke down her possible brain injuries and the consequences of those in a very well-explained post a while back, too, but I’m sorry, I can’t find it now. maybe if anyone from TD still follows me and has a better memory for it, they can reblog this and add it.

Like I need to sleep with my feet covered, I used to be scared that Vincent Van Gogh wanted to cut my ears off, I sometimes eat sugar cover lemons, my female crush was on Harley Quinn, and I’m clumsy when I make out with people but my youthful charm makes it endearing.
