-ok I’m gonna stop projecting and let two bit actually tell Beth that he’s dating someone

-she starts to notice him change after marbit start dating

-he’s coming home drunk a lot less and he’s generally way happier

-their mom decides to invite Marcia over for dinner one night so they can all officially meet, and when Beth sees Marcia she’s like “two bit you didn’t tell me she was a soc????”

-girl was not prepared

-anyways Marcia was really nervous for this cuz bestie gets anxious and she knows how much twos family means to him

-after the dinner she comes around the house more often

-one night Beth is getting ready for her first school dance, and Marbit are watching tv in the living room and their mom is working, and she has no clue what to wear and she’s never done makeup before and she is freaaaaking out

-so Marcia comes over and helps her get ready, and that’s when they start to bond

-Marcia being the older sister Beth never had and Beth being like Marcia’s younger sister that she used to dream of

-anyways they’re so cute

-their moms always at work and Beth only has school friends who are girls and like she needs more women in her life lmao

-when Beth gets her first period her moms at work so she decides to call Marcia in a panic

-and Marcia is just like 😭🥺☺️😭😭 cuz she has a little sisterrrrrrr

-no but Marcia makes her feel so safe, something about her is so irresistible to the Mathews I can’t-

-Beth was totally not expecting it but she really needed an older sister figure and finding it in Marcia was sydudhhfd

-it took her a while to trust her, but once she did they were just so sweet together

-u know Marcia and two bit attempt a terrible job at being wingman for her (Johnny even joins in… it doesn’t go well lmao but they tried their best)

-anyways Marcia and Beth are making me completely insane I’m not ok :D thank you soooo much for making me think about them /gen

-oh and at one point two bit realizes that Marcia has more of a relationship with his sister than he does…. But I’m gonna make a separate post about all that cuz it kills me so bad

Two-bit sister hcs?

ok it’s a little bit half baked but ahshhahd here:

-I haven’t really decided how much younger than two she is

-maybe like 6 years or so?

-anyways she was absolutely an unplanned pregnancy

-and their dad didn’t want another kid in the slightest

-within a few months of her being born he left

-this leads to her not wanting to be a burden on her mother and doing anything to be the easiest child on earth

-and then there’s two bit stealing things and getting in trouble constantly

-he’s the problem child so she feels a lot of pressure to be the perfect child

-he gets bad grades and will probably never graduate, so she has to get perfect grades and she has to graduate

-she throws herself into any free extracurricular that she can, to get out of her house and away from the east side and away from her brother who gets home drunk every other night

-she definitely becomes a theater kid in high school, because when she’s onstage it doesn’t matter if she’s a greaser or a soc, the only thing that matters is her talent

-she basically lives her life trying to be the very opposite of two bit

-and she hates the fact that he drinks and hates when he comes home drunk

-she def blames alcohol for all the problems in their relationship

-she resolved to never touch a drop of alcohol in her life because she doesn’t want to be like him

-I think he tries to be a good brother and really loves her he just doesn’t understand her at all

-when she was little the Curtis family would definitely babysit her all the time

-Johnny canonically spends the night at two bits house a lot, and I think she and him are BESTIES

-like when she was little she would rope him into playing with her before they went to sleep or in the morning

-and when she was older he would get ALLLL the gossip

-in her mind they were just having a sleepover

-actually I can’t they’re so cute 😭😭

The gang (post canon with marbit and cherrycola) going to a pumpkin patch!

-they decide to take two cars: Cherrys car and Darrys

-in cherrys car soda’s the passenger princess because of course he is 💛

-Marcia is stuck between two bit and his little sister (Beth) in the back seat

-marbit is talking and joking the whole way there, until Marcia falls asleep cuddling with two bit, and he (after freaking out cuz she’s so beautiful) falls asleep on her and they’re so fucking adorable

-in the other car Darry drives, pony’s in the passenger seat, and Steve and ace are in the back

-pony tries to read his book but Darry takes it away from him cuz he knows how carsick pony gets 🤦

-Steve and ace are just messing with each other the entire time they’re such siblings 😭

-at the pumpkin patch soda, Steve, and two bit are going crazy with those wheelbarrows that are supposed to carry ur pumpkins

-they are giving each other rides in them and everything, and someone (Steve) definitely ends up getting hurt

-Marcia and cherry watch for a moment, then go off on their search for their perfect pumpkins with Beth

-these girls do not play when it comes to pumpkin choosing, they take it so seriously (mecore)

-meanwhile darry and pony are off looking for pumpkins together

-Darry gets a really big bulky one and pony gets one with a bunch of those scratches and lines on it

-soda and two bit both get reallyy funky shaped ones

-ace and Steve go off to look for one but they’re roughhousing the whole time and end up somehow completely crushing an entire pumpkin.

-eventually they just choose a weird little pumpkin at random

-there’s a pony ride there for little kids, and the whole gang is making fun of ponyboy so muchhhhh

-Cherry takes soda over to the ponys and he’s so happyyyy

-horse girl sodapop u will always be real to me

-on the way home Marcia is in the front with Cherry, while two bit and soda sit in the back

-Beth moves to the other car and falls asleep on aces shoulder

-someone remind me to think about ace and Beths relationship because the possibilities are incredible

alright chat, headcanons on two bit and his sister trying to repair their relationship (and thank you @walmartbrandwhatever because you’re inspiring me for parts of this)

-there were a few catalysts for two bit realizing that he just. Didn’t have a relationship with his sister (who we're calling Beth)

-and the relationship that was there was really awkward

-first off when he starts going out with Marcia he’s drinking wayyyy less

-and then he sees Marcia develop a relationship with Beth…

-and one night he’s watching them talking and laughing and realizes that he really doesn’t know his sister at all

-so while driving Marcia home that night he just kinda breaks down and realizes that he wants to fix this but he has no clue how

-they start small, he comes home earlier than normal one night, and they eat dinner together and watch tv, something they hadn’t done together in a really long time

-it’s kinda awkward tbh

-even so Beth starts silently getting emotional over doing something as simple as watching tv with her brother

-it’s bad guysssss it’s so bad

-he asks about her extracurriculars and learns about her schedule

-he starts just coming home more often to spend dinner with her, and and eventually they get to the point where sometimes they don’t even watch tv while they eat, they eat at the table and talk, just the two of them

-THAT WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED BEFOREEE

-the first time in recent memory that he hugs her is after seeing Beth in a show, and that night she goes home and sobs her eyes out

-it takes a really really long time for all the weirdness and awkwardness to go away

-but eventually they can talk and laugh like two normal siblings and it’s so 😭😭💛💛

-one time Marcia and two bit are in a fight and he gets drunk, falling back on an old crutch

-he comes home really late and Beth had stayed up because he hadn’t called and he hadn’t done that in a while and she was worried

-she sees that he’s drunk and locks herself in her room and just cries and cries and cries

-the next day he apologizes a ton, and he resolves that instead of being sober just for Marcia, he should be sober for his sister 😭😭

-oh my god and the first time they say “I love you” to each other??? I can’t evennn

-it’s literally so simple. Two bits watching tv and Beth’s going off to school and she’s saying goodbye and he calls “I love you!” Out to her and she pauses, then says it back, trying to hide how broken her voice is

-she walks out the door and completely breaks down

-anyways I love them so much 💛💛

I know it's not american thanksgiving yet but it is this weekend where I am so what are your thoughts on Mathews family thanksgiving? (cause their mom absolutely tries to do smt for it even if it's not much)

sorry this took me so long, I got a little sidetracked... go see my headcanons on mama mathews for context cuz otherwise a lot of this wont make sense!

-the thanksgiving after two bit is born, mollys parents reach out to her and invite her to come back to their farm for the holiday

-Molly, with some convincing from Betsy, decides to accept

-it’s a little awkward at first, but her parents are masters at pretending everything is fine when it’s not

-keith turns on the charm and makes her whole family really like him, other than Betsy

-this starts a tradition for their family to have a big reunion every thanksgiving

-the thanksgiving after Beth was born and Keith left was awful

-her family kept on making snide comments about how “of course she couldn’t even keep a man” and how shameful it is to be a single mother

-she puts up with this for a few years, until one year when she finally gets sick of it, and there’s a huge screaming match between her and her brother and her parents

-during the argument someone makes a comment about how Beth never should have been born and it’s her fault that Keith is gone, and Molly just snaps

-cuz nooo one is going after her babies, she’d give up the world for them 100 times over

-she immediately gets up and leaves, and they never go back

-the next year they try and make a nice dinner but molly cant cook for shit so they end up just going to the curtis house

-that births the new tradition of the big Curtis gang thanksgiving!

-then one year post canon Betsy reaches out saying that her husband and kids are traveling to see some extended family for thanksgiving and she decided to stay back home

-she asks if she could come to Tulsa so they can do thanksgiving together!!

-Molly is like “of course!!!!” And is absolutely thrilled to get to spend some time with her sister

-this is after Marcia and two bit start dating, and when two bit finds out that this year Marcia’s parents are working through the holiday and she won’t be having a thanksgiving dinner he insists she comes

-Betsy is good at cooking, however Molly and Beth are both atrocious

-two bit, surprisingly, is actually fucking incredible

-no one knows why, but u put him in the kitchen and he can do magicccc

-he and Betsy are put in charge of the majority of the food

-Beth tries to make the mashed potatoes because how does someone fuck up mashed potatoes?

-however she finds a way, because of course she does

-Betsy doesn’t let Molly anywhere near the kitchen cuz she’s still traumatized from mollys cooking endeavors when they were kids

-the kitchen was nearly burned down on multiple occasions back then

-Marcia volunteers to make a pumpkin pie, because she’d baked a few times when Cherry was over at her house and they got bored

-two bit comes over to ‘help’ and like… I don’t even need to talk about it I think you know how unbearably cute they were (and there may have been a minor food fight- think of that scene between Quinn and puck from glee)

-they all sit down for dinner, and stuff themselves full and laugh and talk the whole time!

-Molly decided her contribution would be decorations, so the table is beautiful with all sorts of fall colors!

-afterwards they all agree it’s the best thanksgiving they ever had

@this-hopeless-war asked me for thanksgiving headcanons and I promise those are coming, but it got me thinking about mama mathews, who I’m calling Molly, so now of course I must yap

-Molly grew up on a farm in the country with an older brother and a younger sister

-their parents were very traditional and strict

-her brother was raised to take over the farm

-he was also raised to repress all his emotions other than anger!!!

-her little sister Elizabeth, nicknamed Betsy, is very close with Molly despite them being very very different

-Betsy marries her high school sweetheart and moves to his farm and they start a family together, which is everything Molly was expected to do, but she never wanted that life

-she always wanted to move to the big city in search of something more exciting

-sick of her parents nagging, she drops out of high school at the start of her senior year and moves to Tulsa

-she finds a job as a waitress and within about two weeks of having that job she meets a man named Keith

-He’s 19 years old and calls himself a ‘wild spirit’ and says that he and Molly share that

-they hit it off right away and he asks her out

-within a month they get engaged and elope

-two months after that, Molly finds out that she’s pregnant with two bit

-Kieth decides he should name their son after him, because of course they’re gonna have a son! Someone to carry on his Mathews name and effectively be his mini me

-four years later, Molly unexpectedly gets pregnant again

-she names her baby Elizabeth, after her aunt. She’s nicknamed Bitty by two bit and Beth by everyone else

-Kieth’s kinda had his foot out the door for a minute, saying that one kid is enough and he doesn’t want another one

-when Beth’s being born he shows up to the hospital clearly drunk

-when he finds out it’s a girl he explodes because what’s even the point in having a girl??

-Molly was holding her baby girl for the first time, and he was screaming at her, and she just had enough

-she told him that he wasn’t wanted here anymore, he never did anything to help her, he couldn’t keep a job, he was lazy, he considered himself a wild spirit like her, but in reality he’s just lost, living a pointless existence

-he gets super mad at her and skips town without a trace

-everyone always thinks that he left them cuz Molly doesn’t tell the story

I actually have so many thoughts on molly and keith, and Keith and two bit, but I can’t articulate them rn so I’m gonna go work on the thanksgiving headcanons.
