Betsy-Tacy Society Fundraiser

Did you know that we own both Betsy and Tacy's houses? We do! They are both from the 1890s, and require upkeep. Last fall, we had to replace Tacy's roof, which led to discovering a ton of mold and lead on the second floor. We're taking care of that now, but it's wiping out our savings--it cost almost $30k!!!

Thinking about Betsy-Tacy and Tib today and how much I liked this book growing up AND how I’m getting major sapphic vibes from Tib. Short hair, not interested in dating, all about female friendships... am I remembering that correctly? Anyway I could be wrong but that’s now my head canon

today i revisited betsy ray’s world and basically the world seems cheery and i want to be a writer and read all the classics and study shakespeare and eat all the food and be courted by a joseph

I'm in a reading slump, but even still I have capacity for "Betsy and Joe" by Maud Hart Lovelace

By which I mean, I read up to Christmas, stop when Betsy realizes they gave each other the same Shakespeare play for Christmas after they had a falling out, then skip several chapters ahead after Easter when they finally make up, and then I just keep going until the last page when they sit up on the Big Hill kissing and he's telling her about permanent rings.

It's... so cathartic to read about a boy so good.

Might read the last few chapters of Betsy and the Great World (even though I don't need to, that personal ad is written on my heart) and then Betsy's Wedding next.

You can keep your Darcys. You can keep Gilbert Blythe, too. He's not even the best Gilbert while Markham exists. I have a forever soft spot for Captain Wentworth, but....

It's Joe Willard for me.
