…where they see themselves in ten years.
At this point? Dead, probably. He’s kind of honestly hoping for that? He can’t even really think as far as a year from now, let alone ten. The thought of living ten more years like this is....not really a wonderful thought to say the least.
…how good they are with technology.
Hmm. He grew up in Gridania as a dirt-poor kid, and until his ill-fated stint as an informant to Garlemald he actually never really even saw much magitek close up.
He was sent along with Yuyuhase to infiltrate the wall about a month or two in advance of the attack on the Wall, and he ended up being better with magitek than the Lalafell -- Yuyuhase was pretty impatient with it, and didn’t care much about figuring out anything beyond the basics, but Laurentius picked up a few things pretty quickly. Mostly to distract himself -- it was a good distraction, paging through manuals and the like. But he has a talent for messing with the stuff he hasn’t really done much about.
HAHAHA if you asked him that, he wouldn’t be able to answer.
The Shroud makes him happy, though; just being in it. The trees, the grass, the flowers, the scent of it and all the different shades of green. Just lying in the grass underneath the trees, the sun shining through the canopy. Jumping shirtless in the lake that separates the East Shroud from Old Gridania during the summer. (It’s right by the Wailer’s Barracks, he did that a lot.) The Druthers, and Buscarron’s fond scolding.
And the city itself; the smells from walking around Gridania -- the flowers and fresh dirt of the Greatloam Growery, the tannin and leather from the Leatherworkers’ Guild, baking bread from the Whistling Miller, incense from Stillglade Fane, lacquer and sawdust from the Carpenters’ Guild -- the bustle of the shops in the Shaded Bower, the plays at Mih Khetto’s...
Basically the poor kid bleeds Gridania yellow, no matter what else he’s been through. Not much makes him genuinely happy -- nothing really has -- but his he loves his city.
