001 | Its a start.
Allison hated first days – especially first days that happened to be in the middle of the semester – which only meant that she’d be the new face in a crowd of students who had probably known each other all their lives. The thought sent her stomach gurgling a bit that her smile only came off forced and crooked as she attempted to believe her Mom’s reassuring words from the other line. Nodding along thoughtlessly as she started fumbling through her back, to double check if she had all her things. Book – check. Binder – check. Phone – in use. Pen – Pen?
Oh god.
“Mom! I forgot my pen. My pen, mom. This is going to be a horrible first day.” She groaned, frustratingly rifling through her bag again as if that would help anything until the vice-principal came walking back and telling her to follow him. With a small smile that still looked like a frown, she closed her bag and reluctantly said goodbye to her mom. She held her bag close to her as she followed him, quietly scanning the empty halls and the little posters that hung on the walls until she was handed her schedule and other information and lead to her first class.
Prompting another smile as she walked in, she looked around at the unfamiliar faces staring back at her, doing her best to not look as out of place as she felt until she sat at the only available seat, already sighing as she started rifling through her bag for the pen before looking at the student in front of her. Pen in hand and a smile of her own in tow, Allison smiled back.
“Um, thanks.”
