Right, SO, I don't want to ask anything, just say something. I've just read my first ever fanfic, and it was 'between each beat' by you and Darcy. For many years, I laboured under the misapprehension that fanfic was a trite and boring genre that should be ignored by proper grownups like me (I am a bit of a twat), until by chance I saw someone mention that this fic you and Darcy wrote was the bee's knees and I thought let's see. I cried and laughed out loud on the tube. I love it. It's great.

Ahhh, thank you, and welcome to the wonderful world of fanfic! I’m so glad you gave our fic a try and that it seems to have changed your perception at least a bit. The stigma around reading (and writing) fic is such an interesting phenomenon. While yes, there is certainly fic that might be trite or boring, as you said, or that just isn’t suited to a reader’s personal taste, there are also stories that are incredibly compelling. Just like the world of published fiction, fanfic quality and content varies wildly; and just like with published fiction, it’s all a matter of seeking out authors who write in a way that speaks to you, who tell stories that you want to read. I’ve certainly found several fic writers who I think write more lyrically and handle particular subjects and plots and characters more deftly than a lot of published authors I’ve read. Quality writing is there if you look for it, and with the sheer amount of fic that’s out there, you don’t even necessarily have to look all that hard to find it.

Ok, so I just finished 'Between each beat are words unsaid' and holy friggin christ, it's amazing and painful and beautiful and quite possibly the best thing I have ever read in my entire life. And I read A LOT. Thankyouthankyouthankyou for creating such an amazing piece of work. You're freaking awesome!!!

Hi there, sorry if this has been asked already, but is there a print copy of "Between Each Beat" for sale, or if not, is there a plan to make it so? I know that part of the beauty of this fandom is that it's done for love, not profit... But I also really need a physical copy of that story in my hands, and I want to be able to throw money at you and @watsonshoneybee for giving the characters we love the story they deserved. Thanks for all you guys do!

Hi, nonny! I really appreciate your enthusiasm and your desire for a physical copy of between each beat, but unfortunately, no, we are not selling copies nor do we have plans to do so in the future. I made a physical copy of across these pages for @ladymacphisto, as the fic was written as her Christmas gift (and yes, I *am* three months late with that but such is life, lol), but that’s the only plans for printing any of it. Copyright laws make it tricky at the very least because while Holmes and Watson are part of the public domain, anything so closely tied to the BBC show is definitely still protected by copyright, so profiting off of anything related to the show can definitely lead to legal issues.

So, no, sadly I can’t sell you a copy of between each beat, but I am indeed very grateful for the sentiment behind it. The best support that you can give @watsonshoneybee and I, as well as your other favorite fic writers, is your kudos and comments on our fics, your likes and reblogs of our posts about our writing, and your recommendations when you love something we’ve done. Get in our inboxes like this to let us know that you enjoyed a fic (we never get tired of it, I swear), and remember that readers are fic writers’ best form of advertising, so if you love something, please please tell other people about it. Thank you so much! When we were planning and writing between each beat, @watsonshoneybee and I spent a lot of time thinking about all the different directions the show might go after TAB, based on the evidence in the episodes. What we ultimately settled on is obviously vastly different than the s4 we got, so that’s zero points for our prediction skills I suppose, lol, but it’s been very flattering to see people embrace it as their alternative to canon. I’m glad we were able to give everyone an ending y’all found satisfying. xx

I just read 'Between Each Beat...' all in one sitting (now 4.45am!) My goodness it's beautiful! It made me gasp, and cry, and smile so widely I thought I had unhinged the top of my head! Headcanon and heartcanon accepted. Much better than Moftiss.❤❤
