Song Review: David Gilmour with Romany Gilmour - “Between Two Points” (Live, 2024)
It’s a lovely father-daughter moment, but anyone laying down big bucks to see David Gilmour in concert is unlikely to have done so in hopes of hearing Romany Gilmour front the band on “Between Two Points.”
But that’s the deal on the latest clip to emerge from the forthcoming (Oct. 17) “Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome” concert film. She plays a handheld harp and sings the Floydian ballad that finds Dad playing steel on the intro and reeling off a “Comfortably Numb”-styled solo on the outro.
It’s another in a long line of Gilmour-trying-to-sound-Pink songs that’d be a total loss if not for the obvious pride the guitarist is feeling. He flashes a reassuring smile at Romany as the song begins; she winks at David when the vocals are finished.
And that’s the most endearing thing about “Between Two Points.”
