YAWN 😴 Trying to catch up on some old editing this week. All these yawning dogs are making me yawn and making it hard to concentrate. I’ve never really gone through all the images from the shoots for my book. (Of course I did the edit for the book but that was a small and targeted selection.) Thousands of images to go through of dogs and puppies. Yes it’s fun but it’s also overwhelming. Just SO many cute, beautiful, endearing images. Not tooting my own horn 🎺 The editing struggle is real. I was never able to properly edit the “outtakes” for multiple reasons. One was having a baby. That was kind of distracting! The other was just having other projects to focus on. During this time of year I like to catch up on projects that I never get the time to focus on. Hopefully I will make it through at least one first round edit all 60 dogs! Things are looking up ⬆️ well at least this Pug is looking up. Look at those two little tiny teeth. Just the cutest. And all those whiskers. Can’t handle it. Do you have a favorite random characteristic that you love about your pet? I love that Cosmo has one ear that sticks up and one ear that is floppy. It definitely makes him a unique Papillon. This #Pug was photographed for my book Between Two Dogs. The images in the book were shot on white but I also photographed the duo on this beautiful brown background. The Monday mood continues. Who’s ready for a holiday vacation? Me and this little lab puppy. 🐶 I photographed this cutie for #betweentwodogs he was 4 months old at the time of the shoot. Long legs, huge paws, and so gangly and awkward. It was like watching a baby giraffe trying to take its first steps.🦒 Just imagine him flopping down for this image and then awkwardly getting up. What a riot it was to watch. Sometimes I can’t stop giggling as I’m photographing a dog 😂

Yesterday a kiss. Today a hug from a German Shorthaired Pointer. What could be better? This duo was the most chill pair that I photographed for the book. They were seriously just happy to sit there together and chill. I could ask the owner to move her a little this way, a little that way. Place the puppy here or there. It was one of those shoots where I could really control the scene and create what I had envisioned. As opposed to a dog that won’t sit still and i have to go with the flow and work around the dog’s abilities. I do love both types of shoots! There was one moment that was spontaneous and completely magical. I did not set it up (I did have the dogs lay next to each other) but the paws I did not. Who needs a kiss today? 🙋‍♀️ I’m sorry I haven’t been very active on Instagram these past few weeks. I’ve been sick and to be honest not feeling very inspired. Just in a rut. Does anyone else get that way this time of year? It feels like a combination of so much to do before the end of the year but no motivation to even leave the house when it’s 20 degrees out. Plus these getting dark at 4:30pm days really suck. So ready for the holiday getaway when we go visit my parents in Colorado. I get in some skiing (and also photographing some dogs), Neve gets time with her grandparents, and Cosmo gets to go on hikes and play with Woody. Woody is my parents dog and oh boy does he love Neve. Tongue curl 🌀 of a chihuahua. I photographed this gal a month or so after she had a litter of puppies. Interesting tidbit, did you know that female dogs lose their hair after giving birth, just like human mothers? I never knew that until I photographer her and her coat was looking a bit sparse. Putting on that fake smile.... Thinking about Monday.... Thinking about the mistakes you made Saturday night.... the caption options are endless. Some breeds are very expressive. Others are not. Huskies are definitely in the very expressive category. I photographed this husky for my book Between Two Dogs. She gave the gamut of expressions when I was doing portraits of her. And when it was time for the images of her and her puppy she laid there on her side letting the puppy cuddle and play and climb all over her. It was super sweet. Swipe ➡️ This is Smokey and Carly and they were the fluffiest snuggliest mush puffs I’ve ever photographed. Ok, there were a few others that qualify but these nuggets are at the top of the list. They came to the studio to be photographed for my book #betweentwodogs. The goal of the shoot was to photograph the dogs together and interacting. Some dogs didn’t care much for each other. And others were all over one another. Smokey and Carly were on top of one another the whole time. They snuggled, they wrestled, they were inseparable. Once they fell asleep it was like shooting a still life. Move the paw a little bit this way, move the ear a little bit that way. The moments around this image were them mouthing one another on the paw, on the ear or the others snout. I smiled the whole time photographing them. They were truly a joy to photograph and also to snuggle with. When I photographed them individually the other would snuggle in my lap.
