Beware of the Dog
Whenever you see a ‘BEWARE OF THE DOG’ sign you probably imagine some giant dog who may or may not be possessed by the undead spirit of a serial killer… Or maybe that is just me as I just realized that I may have watched Stephen King’s Cujo a few too many times. But whatever …
Beware of Dog || Madison & Shiloh
THe forest around Madison was dark and bleak, the colors of the leaves muted by the darkness. Madison had been out hunting for a while now and, though she didn't know it, had gotten lost. Perhaps because she was so unused to traveling on her own, she'd seriously misjudged her path. Now she was far away from her home in the creepy forest of Hallowed Oak. The redhead wondered curiously why there seemed to be no familiar bustling city nearby. She had intended to make it to Monir, yet here was was far from the art filled streets. "I should've hailed a carriage" she mumbled to herself, hands grasping the fabric of her skirt tightly as she lifted her leg to step over a fallen tree trunk. She gasped as it caught on her leg, ripping her skirt and a bit of her flesh. It wouldn't take too long to heal, of course it would be faster if she had already fed.
Madison had been so preoccupied by her misfortune that she didn't at first notice the animal in front of her. It wasn't until the scent hit her that she raised her eyes, looking at him in terror. The height of the moment filled her with adrenaline and she turned to run. She didn't make it very far, however, when she found herself tripping over the tree branch again, landing face first in the mud. Terrified, she turned, looking at the other creature. "Please don't hurt me" she whispered timidly, trying to stand but stumbling again. For a fleeting moment she wondered how she must look to the stranger and all but gaggged, repulsed at the thought of the appearance that she cared so much about all coated in mud.
