I’m going to kill the Beware of Cloud author. Cai Xiulan would not fold so easily. She is no blushing maiden that would fall for the first knight in shining armor that saves her life with ease. She is all strength of will and a dutiful young mistress.
Her heart has been hardened by every man who has come lusting for her in her life and disdains their touch, even on the verge of death at Fa Ram’s door. To write the beginnings of a convincing romance plot with her requires long years grinding away at her shell, convincing her there is more to life than duty to her sect, and somehow keeping her around long enough to do it.
The only reason Rou Jin even comes close to managing it is his respectful (taken) demeanor and accidentally having convinced her he was a hidden master. His farming techniques and wisdom to her were why he was a savant of the world of cultivation. She would never had stayed if she realized he just thought of himself as a particularly strong farmer.
All this to say Shen Xiulan is not happening and would never make sense in any universe, but especially not this one where our Shen Rou is less mature and tempered. This guy is no longer writing fanfiction and is just OCs with stolen names and settings.
