puppy love.

for some reason, alex had thought that his return to korea would be a little bit… busier; a little more filled with people and friends and things to do. in hindsight, that was a stupid thought. alex knew that his old friends had moved on to different things, that nayoung, ren, sarang, all of the people he would call up on a regular basis had signed their lives away to various entertainment agencies. good for them, of course, but what about alex? who is supposed to keep him entertained while he’s out of classes and unemployed now?
he supposes he’s lucky that he’s the type who’s good at keeping himself occupied alone, even if he doesn’t prefer it. only child things, or something like that. when the place he’s been calling home since his return seems a little too big, a little too empty without ren's sharp tongue and sarang’s soft beauty lighting up the room, he decides that it’s time to get out and do something different.
maybe i should get a dog, it’s not the first time the thought had crossed his mind; alex has always been a dog lover, after all. back home in canada, his mother had a treasured little fuzzy mutt who was the light of her world (and alex would pretend was the bane of his—but he secretly loved that dog too). she was never alone, even before she met her now-husband. maybe that’s how he finds himself sitting at a dog cafe, curious more than anything as he leans practically out of his seat to rub a particularly cute pup’s ears. “sarang would kill me if i brought you home unannounced. the boys don’t even know i’m here,” he talks to the animal, confessing his secrets to someone who can never share them. “are you even potty trained yet?”
