Ok idk who wants to read a chunk of text before someones art but.
Theres this poorly made metal fusion turkish parody i used to watch religiously as a kid and i got reminded of its existance recently because someone showed it to me and it literally unlocked a core memory and i went to watch it again thinking i wont find it funny anymore because i found it funny when i was like 4 yrs old but. Maybe its the nostalgia but this video is a work of art its so.
The ginga and kyouya wigs being cheap neon colours not even styled to look like the characters hair, the guy playing ginga’s linkin park shirt, the awkward but hilarious acting, the guy playing Ryūga constantly hunching over so the jacket doesn’t fall off his shoulders (it does multiple times) giving him a funny ass posture, the nike logo on the ginga headband, Ryūsei being ginga with a different shirt, the fact that the guy playing daidouji being the shortest one out of the three (yes only 3 people made this i thought there was more somehow) , or literally anything daidouji does ever, the expression ryuga has the entire time, the phoenix costume having a visible star wars shirt making it obvious that its the same guy playing Ryūga, one of the scenes having a visible rope attached to pegasus so its easier to make it look like its flying.. its literally a master its peak youtube ok. I wanted to draw some scenes from it bcs theyre so fucking funny to me. Its peak i fear. I havent posted mfb in a month and this is what im coming back with fuck it we ball
I was gonna draw this one properly but halfway through realized i couldnt capture the expression of the actor perfectly if i did so. Feast ur eyes upon my best work yet
Heres a compilation of clips that give some context to the pictures drawn, except the last one, it doesnt need context hes just standing there funnily
Link to the full parody under cut
Mayblade day 2: Apple (and some annoying worms).
It was hard drawing this without laughing😂
Pspspsp… Would you be willing to share some crumbs of that kyoya/chris band AU👀 No pressure of course, but do know that my interests are piqued👀
*cracks knuckles* buckle the fuck in because this is gonna be LONG(ish) Also, tw for label abuse and control of autonomy/conservatorship
We're starting when everyone is in their late teens/early twenties for a timeline reference.
Let's start with Chris (and by proxy Christina bc these two are a package deal). Their teen years were spent playing in local bars of their home town with dreams of becoming the next big country duet. When the talent agent finally came (an agent from DNR, aka, Dark Nebula Records, run by Doji), they only wanted Chris, because they were putting together and all boy rock band and he was the perfect fit. So, off Chris went, leaving Christina behind, to become one of the background vocalists and the guitarist for the band.
(More on Crissie's story in a bit.)
Next, Ryuga. The bassist for the band and one of Doji's charges. Doji put resources into Ryuga over Ryuto because he felt Ryuga had more potential. Ryuga, ego getting blown up, puts Ryuto down every time he even tries to break on to the scene, to the point Ryuto eventually cuts contact and disappears for a bit.
(this comes back to bite Doji later, dw)
Gingka, another one of Doji's charges bc Doji and Ryo used to be friends, but Ryo died in a freak accident. (Ryo used to be a huge star known as Phoenix). Doji got custody of Gingka as Doji had been named Gingka's godfather, and Doji saw the same spark in Gingka to be on stage like his father. He exploits that. Gingka becomes the drummer for the band DNR is putting together.
Finally, we got Kyoya (and Kakeru). Both are HUGE rock enthusiasts, but Kakeru leans more towards rock/rap while Kyoya is straight rock. And he's got the voice to back it the fuck up, too. He's found purely by chance and Doji snatches him right up and offers Kyoya the chance to be the lead vocalist for the band. Given the fact the Tategami's aren't coming from a very good home life, Kyoya uses the chance to give himself and Kakeru a better life, but is quickly pushed to put everything he used to be behind him-- including his brother.
(Kakeru will return)
And thus, DNR/Doji has put together the band he believes will make him money: The Four Seasons (aka S4EASONS). The solo acts of DNR include Tsubasa and Helios.
Let's flash forward about fifteen years
The boys are becoming jaded to the industry. Between label abuse and iron wrought contracts they can't get out of without a bunch of blowback and legal trouble, their hands are essentially tied. Gingka's on the verge of a breakdown, Ryuga barely emotes, and Kyoya and Chris have feelings for each other but aren't going to let that be known lest Doji uses to his advantage. There's a lot of mind games involved.
But the boys are at the top of the industry-- sold out stadiums, merch that sells out within 24 hours of drops, music streamed, preordered, etc, so as long as they're succeeding...
Unfortunately for DNR/Doji (but fortunately for our boys), the rumors are beginning to circulate within some of the other record labels' about DNR's practices and control over its idols. And while 99% are too scared to do anything about it, one isn't: Wraith Records, run by one Kuro Blackheart.
(Think of Kuro as a version of Miranda Priestly from Devil Wears Prada; she's strict and values competence, but she's fair to her people. Bao's her trusty right hand).
Kuro's a former idol herself, having been in a band called The Hunters, which was made up of her, Nefertiti Storm (Nile's older sister)... and Christina Cadelle. They disbanded after about a decade, despite their success; Kuro decided to start her own label, Christina wanted to keep performing, and Nefertiti quietly faded from the spotlight, while her brother was one of Wraith Records' first artists to sign on.
(Nile's a rapper that goes by Pharoh; he's successful in his genre, and also an old friend of Kyoya and Kakeru's)
Additionally signed on to Wraith Records alongside Christina and Nile are a band called Tribune. A three man band made up of: Ryuto, Kakeru, and Nero diAngelo (formerly Konzern, but more on that in another post)
So, what's Wraith Records/Kuro supposed to do about the Doji Conundrum? Welp, an opportunity lands in her lap when a television producer reaches out with a pitch: "have the biggest acts of x-number of labels compete in a series of challenges in x-amount of cities within x-amount of days and let the fans decide who wins". The record labels considered are: DNR (Dark Nebula Records), WR (Wraith Records), HI (Hades Incorporated, run by Ziggurat), and AMC (Armageddon Music Records, run by Pluto + Rago).
All the records say yes, signing their most popular acts and idols on. Let the drama commence.
To say the boys of 4 Seasons are surprised by who they're up against is the understatement of the century. It throws them off so badly they're not performing at their best despite the pressure from above. Meanwhile, Wraith's acts are blowing the competition out of the water, consistently staying at the top with every round, not because they're good but because Kuro shared the rumors with them, and suffice to say, they're out for blood-- not necessarily their siblings' blood, but definitely Doji's (and Ziggurat's, bc surprise: Excalibur is signed on to Ziggurat's company). Things they've wondered about for years hits them with the sudden clarity of what the full picture will do. Now they know why their siblings cut them off or acted the way they did.
Somewhere during the duration of the competition, the acts start interacting with each other. Christina and Kakeru pick up on the Thing between Chris and Kyoya and immediately start running interference for the couple to get some time with each other (ah, the benefit of being a twin and an exact look a like, you can swap places so the paparazzi don't know any different) (and if they have to interact with Doji, oh ho ho ho, they're absolutely feral and petty and all snark and sarcasm).
So, yeah, on the actual Kyoya/Chris thing: they actually get time to explore this thing between them. It's... rocky, at first, bc it's one thing to know someone in the context of a band mate, but to make that step to actual relationship, is a bit more complex. They're constantly looking over their shoulder, just to make sure no one catches them. Dw, they figure it out though. (if i ever get to writing this fic, their relationship will be so much easier to READ rather than explain yknow?)
